My First Endo
Last night, I arranged a ride to the coffeeshop with my friends before we all head back to school next week. Since it was a short ride and a girls-night-out thing, I didn't really want to haul along my bag, so I locked my street cuffs around the handlebars, near the stem (How else do people carry these things? Your comments and suggestions are welcomed.). In the confusion of unlocking all the bikes for the ride home, I failed to LOCK the cuffs to the handlebars. A very stupid move. Halfway home, they slipped off the bars with a loud "clunk" and made themselves comfortable in the spokes. You know the rest.
Upon arriving home and inspecting the bike, I discovered one very bent spoke and an unsightly scuff in the Brooks saddle. And this was going to be the week I didn't spend any money on bike stuff. *sigh* I disinfected the abrasions on my elbow & knee. When I woke up this morning I found another bit of road rash on my hip and a big blue bruise on my thigh. Fortunately, I look worse than I feel....although I do feel pretty stupid.

Yikes - are those things all that safe? As in protection-worthy? The link between the two looks like the weakest point. I guess you could always ride with one of them cuffed to your arm or wrist.
Glad to hear you're okay otherwise. I'm occasionally freaked out by the idea of something slipping into my front wheel, like some random twig or branch thus endeth the ride.

Bikes: I built the Bianchi track bike back up today.
OWW!!!!
I hate flipping over bars. That's why I don't have a front brake. Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket... You are lucky you didn't faceplant.
Are you still going to be up for the sat night ride? Or actually, will your bike be up for it? I know you're hardcore...
Hope you feel better soon.
Slightly related, I've started carrying gauze pads, cloth tape and rubbing alcohol with me since I f'd up my toe... Gotta put something besides Jameson in that stash pocket
It's better than the BET and superglue I was carrying (though both are still there)
Ride on...

Would the cuffs fit in a handcuff case or hip pouch or something? I'd think you could even work it to a belt loop or something....
Glad to hear you're okay. Like NT I've taken to carrying some first aid stuff, as I seem to be prone to road rash of late. I carry Betadine instead of alcohol though,.. doesn't burn the skin the same way.
