Source. Please. I will put off any CC purchases in advance of this potential purchase.

This is the only bike part I have lusted over in recent memory. Unexplainable. But please, make it freakin' happen Cinelli.

yup it looks to be true! just google "cinelli alter reissue" and a number of results pop up.....but nowhere i have seen is a release date....or more specific details. they say its going to be made with a 1 1/8th inch clamp instead of the 1 inch like before....no real word as to what handlebar clamp size (hopefully 26, or even 25.4! )

i am just hoping that, tomarrow, cinelli announces publicly that they are in fact reissuing the alter (i dont think they have yet), and that it will be 1 1/8th inch clamp, and that they will have a 26 h-bar clamp, and making a 90mm long option. in black/silver. with pinup girl faceplates

Cinelli is a day late with all of these reissues.

I think their original plan was to:

1) Get a time machine
2) Go back to 2005
3) Read Bike Forums SSFG to see what hipsters are lusting after
4) ...
5) PROFIT!

I think they got stuck on Step 1 and said f*ck it and proceeded to Step 4.

Alter has always been the coolest stem, but nobody has 1" threadless. Out of all my bikes I've only had one 1" threadless setup! That was always the big issue with them.

The new Alter will fit 1 1/8th steer tubes
Can't wait!
To be honest the design is pretty awesome as you can thread a accessory cable through it.

I still have my 1 inch alter in a drawer somewhere in the house with ALL the alter girls.

Serious? I was really planning on getting one if I see one with proper pricing, but then if it's structurally weak ... you know.

the website says for use 'with oversized handlebars.' Still exciting, nonetheless.

wellllll, it has been like a year since i read in blogs about the cinelli alter reissue...and STILL no word.

so i decided, what the hell, ill email them about it. and they responded super quickly!
here it is:

"Hello Daniel,

This project is still planned, but has been moved behind other projects. Hopefully you will see new information about the Alter availability in the coming months.

Thank you for your interest in Cinelli"

so i guess its still in the works, just not a priority. makes sense. i had thought they killed the idea since i heard about the reissue a long time ago. awesome.

Maybe you have more street cred, but you certainly don't have more BF cred.
