Fuji Feather

How do you feel about it? If you have one then I really want to know how you feel about it....

I also heard that Fuji's are being produced in China now...I hope thats not true

Scrodzilla 07-06-10 09:23 PM

Some models are made in China, some in Taiwan.

Chelseaandannoy 07-06-10 09:37 PM

So basically no more Japan...hahaha. But is it worth while buying and riding?

Scrodzilla 07-06-10 09:39 PM

The Feather is a nice bike, although a MSRP is a little high based on the components IMO. We have one at the shop where I work and I don't find it to be that much nicer than an average Kilo with some moderate upgrades.

Chelseaandannoy 07-06-10 09:43 PM

I found one online for $540 and I'm calling them tomorrow to see the shipping and if they are available...do you think thats a good price for it?

Scrodzilla 07-06-10 09:44 PM

That's not too bad (if it's your size).

Squirrelli 07-06-10 09:47 PM

You have to understand that it is the company that is responsible for quality, not the country. With that said, a company could make a ****ty frames in Taiwan and good frames elsewhere; and vice versa. Fuji Feather is a good bike/frame set, if you like it, then get it.

They have I think every size comparable to the real Fuji website haha

squeegeesunny 07-06-10 09:52 PM

I saw one at my local Campmor when I was getting tubes 2 days ago. They definitely look pretty but I'd still get a Kilo over it. The parts don't look all that great, and personally, if you get a Kilo Stripper and put on some track drops with track grips, it'd look the same. Fuji did a good job of replicating the classic track look but they should've made it with nice parts and priced it high.

Scrodzilla 07-06-10 09:56 PM

I'm fairly certain the frame is the same as the Classic Track but with a different fork.

Chelseaandannoy 07-06-10 09:56 PM

You guys know more about bikes than me or more of the sites to find them....Is there any bike out now these days that is anywhere between 300-700 thats a eally nice bike and has nice components/color options? I know of all the bikes on bikesdirect but besides the Kilo and Fuji and the others on there

squeegeesunny 07-06-10 09:59 PM

Oh nooo, not the Fuji Classic Track, just the "classic" track look is what i meant.

Squirrelli 07-06-10 10:06 PM

Pardon my ignorance, but is the Windsor Hour the same as Classic track, which essentially has the same frame as a Fuji Feather?

squeegeesunny 07-06-10 10:07 PM

Just some brands that I can remember that has decent fixed gears are Schwinn, Raleigh, Swobo, Bianchi, Specialized, Trek, GT, and SE. They all have atleast one < $700 fixed gear bike.

Oh , Wabi cycles might be good for you. Wabi Classic is $675, nice parts, good frame.

Chelseaandannoy 07-06-10 10:08 PM

Yes you are correct, it is a replica except the hour is ugly as **** lol

Squirrelli 07-06-10 10:08 PM

+1 on Wabi, wonderful frameset, nice tubing too.

How can it look ugly if they are the same frame?

Get a Republic if you care so much about aesthetics.

Chelseaandannoy 07-06-10 10:14 PM

I care about aesthetics because I like my bike....If im riding I have to like what I ride. Its like a girl dude....you have to be attracted to her and like being with her. You dig? or is that too non-elitist for you? :(

Its ugly because its similar but they add things to it and you arent buying just the frame you are buying the crappy bars it has and the bike itself when the feather is clean

squeegeesunny 07-06-10 10:15 PM

Woo ! Repubelick ftw!

Squirrelli 07-06-10 10:16 PM

Beefing aside, you could consider the Wabi, but it only comes in two colours.

Chelseaandannoy 07-06-10 10:24 PM

Well you like Wabi...how do you feel about SE, specifically the PK Ripper?

Also how do you feel about Bianchi Pista?

squeegeesunny 07-06-10 10:26 PM

Pistas are overpriced. Their frame isnt that great. It's so expensive just because its a "bianchi". Don't get me wrong, its still a nice bike(except for that ugly fork!) but you could do better. PK Ripper is nice, I'd get it , but I dont do tricks so whats the point? Do you plan on doing tricks? If you are, you should invest in a steel frame, not an aluminum frame.

I used a bit of psychology there.

Chelseaandannoy 07-06-10 10:28 PM

haha nah I ride long rides through the city and stuff so the Ripper isnt for me, to be honest the only thing I like about the Ripper is the top tube and the saddle hahahaha. Im all about that Japanese bright colored, crazy bike style. I love the colors of the blue PK Ripper but the words on it are so lame I couldnt even ride it...honestly "Grinding Gears" wtf lol

Chelseaandannoy 07-06-10 10:29 PM

oh and yeah Bianchi and Cinelli both are overpriced I think. Actually all top names are overpriced haha, but what can you do, you just have to find the newer not so beautiful brands that come out and get them before they go back to their original price

Scrodzilla 07-06-10 10:30 PM

Modern Pistas are way overpriced. I'd much rather have a Kilo.

The PK Ripper is NOT a trick frame. Aluminum frames can't withstand the stress of tricking. The PK Ripper fixed gear is aesthetically based on the old school BMX bikes of the same name and as I just stated in another thread earlier today, are much better to look at than ride. BTW - the fork says "Landing Gear".

Squirrelli 07-06-10 10:35 PM

If you like crazy colours, why not get Stripper or Kilo?

The only SE frames I like is the Premium Brew.
