Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? I just love this place. My chain is too narrow. Must be stretched - buy a new one of the same size. Use a chain stretch tool - let me tell you how and show you a picture. Try flipping the chain around. I've heard that works. . You guys are great for my ego. Thank you.

I live to serve.

By the by, back in school I had a neighbor who had a flying squirrel as a pet.

She named it "Neko", because she was "into Japan".

dsh,

Neko means cat. Just FYI. On the other note, any man of any age has managed to publicly step on his tederonies (absolutely love that one). It is an absolute requirement of other men to pile on (jumping up and down on aforementioned tenderonies)when this happens. It makes one pay closer attention ones tenderonies and their protection. We do this out of love for one another. Women on the other hand are just mean and nasty to each other.

My sister had two of them. They were vicious as all hell.

Scrodzilla,

It's a flying (or gliding if you will) rodent. My God. These things chew through brick walls just to keep their teeth wore down. You don't make them dinner guests. Maybe dinner in a real pinch but not dinner guests.

I was aware of that from the moment she told me the flying squirrel's name, but I am pretty sure she was not. I never told her, it was more entertaining that way.

In retrospect, I think it was a sugar glider, not a flying squirrel.
I apologize for getting everyone excited...

By the way, I heard periodically removing and reinstalling your headset (but switching the top/bottom cups) is good because it balances out the wear on the bearings.

I like to swap my font and back wheels occasionally to keep them from losing their magic powers. It's difficult the first few times you do it - mainly because you can only ride in a straight line - but just like anything else, you get used to it.

I do something similar, but instead I just put the quill stem/handlebars in the seat tube, and the seatpost/saddle in the steerer. That way the tread on the tires wears evenly forwards/backwards.

The problem is that you have to cold set your forks/rear triangle every time you switch.

Don't ask me how I know this.

I bet if you left the chain a little slack you could get +/- 1 or 2 degrees of steer out of it.

Nice sex-offender moustache there. Did he lure the kid onto the bike with candy, or just offer to let him wear those sweet 1994 shades.
