Leader Bike Teams?
So Im just curious.
Cervelo has a racing team, for Road primarily (Or a team whose official bike is Cervelo)
Saxo Bank rides specialized.
Team Radio Shack rides treks.
Idk about track teams though.
But I was thinking because I was on Leader's website and i clicked on "team" expecting to see a road racing team, or a track team, and what I see is a trick team.
I was like wtf.
Are there seriously no teams that have declared Leader (or for that matter.....say a Motobecane or Windsor lol) the official bike.
Kinda makes me wanna get into track racing and make a track racing team racing exclusively on Leaders lol.
Whats up with that though?
Just a thought. Whether stupid or not, something I wanted to put on "paper"

If I had to guess, I'd say the reason why Cervelo, Specialized, Trek, Scott, Ridley, Raleigh, Colnago, Pinarello, Orbea, and others have sponsored "teams" is because Cervelo, Specialized, Trek, Scott, Ridley, Raleigh, Colnago, Pinarello, and Orbea make high end bikes worthy of team sponsorship.
Leader and Motobecane don't. These guys are much, much more focused on the entry-level, mass produced frame, with a couple options for the competitive amateur but really nothing that approaches the professional level.

Motobecane and windsor and any typical bikesdirect bike brand are "in-house generic" bike brands that's cheaper than the name - brand.
Majority if not all of the brands were formally name brands before the respective companies folded and bikesdirect picked up the brands for pennies on the dollar or free.
You forgot Cannondale...

Hey hey hey... I did say "and others"!
The first thing I'd do after winning the lottery is buy a BMC frame and tarck is the F out.

Dam man. If I was an ameture team (spelling fail), Id make a team and declare either Mercier or Leader Bike USA my official bike. XD. Just for the hell of it, and see how far we could make it.
I mean on the Track Bike threads, I saw someone post a bike on the "Post your Track Bike photos", to which apparently some of the bikes are graciously suggested to be moved to the SSFG bike as "tarck bikes"., post a Leader. As ugly as it was, it was probably the only Leader on there. I saw a couple of Merciers, and I saw a hella bomb Dawes SST AL, which currently is probably the bike on the last page of the Track Bike pictures thread.
So again, it was just some thoughts I had, and hey, maybe there is some ameature (spelling fail again?) team out there that uses leaders, Windsors, Merciers, Dawes etc exclusively, but we don't hear about it because they are amachure.
Haha.
If you guys had to choose one of these brands, which would you choose to sponsor a Track Team (or even road bike team)?
My vote is for Leader lol.

You're misunderstanding how team sponsorship works.
The big teams you're mentioning receive those bikes for free, likely plus extra money. In exchange for having riders win on their bikes, the privilege of having good riders on their bikes and in ads and such, and to just get the brand out there. Brands like Leader or Mercier would never have the budget to do this, as they're probably cutting it pretty close as it is. Let alone that they make nothing close to pro level. Entry level manufacturers have sponsored pro tour teams before. Huffy sponsored the 7-11 team in the 80s. But, those companies had a marketing budget and goals, Leader probably just has enough marketing budget to take out an ad in Urban Velo.
Lower level teams might receive frames at cost, something that Leader could probably do, but I'd bet that their trick team probably doesn't even get that. Teams aren't made up of people that just all decide to ride the same frame, you approach whoever you can to get the sponsorship, and thus, you usually don't really get to choose. You go with who is going to give you the best deal. Running a team is expensive, and you're going to take what you can get. Behind that you have teams or lower level riders within teams where they just ride what they own, and that's when you start to see Leaders and such. A group of 10th place amateur riders wouldn't be worth any effort for a company to sponsor, and riders faster than that likely wouldn't want to ride a Leader, or Leader wouldn't have the resources to sponsor the team. Even on teams where they receive very nice bikes for free, many riders still choose to pay to ride different gear, I doubt a Leader would be their choice.
