Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

My simple question which some seem to have glossed over is a shorter reach the answer or a shorter stem for best fit when going for a track bar that works for your fit? Not a roadie question, not a track question but using these bars on the street. In the real world. No drugs.

There is no problem with an adult conversation about this as opposed to the typical BF pissing contest. Let's keep it on topic.

While clearly inter-connected, I always use stems for reach adjustment and bars for hands/breathing/steering issues.

I had Deda Pista hated them.

Now I run these.

That's where the new compact anatomic drops excel. You can make minor adjustments on your reach and drop by rotating the bar. Pretty cool. If I were you, I would go far to set up a bike with that.

I ride track bars, but they are much much difficult to set up. Reach is pretty far and drops pretty deep and there isn't much you can do to adjust that. I am pretty lucky and things worked out pretty nicely, but it took 6-7 months to get everything right. A bit excessive. A shallow anatomic would got me set to go in about a week. ...
