Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Woke up to a wet dream

in my inbox. My carbon roadie friend sent me this pic from the On Show 2004. Since I was accused of being a spandie road biker wannabe last night, I felt it was my obligation to post it.

Is that a fixie or just a single speed. Either way, I agree, it's a dream, definitely a wet one!

Alright, kill him.

Do you see brakes? If you don't, then it's a fixie. Mayhaps even a *gasp* true track bike.

aside: two points for the quote i thought of when i referenced the above. Give me the place and context.

"Do you see towels? If you see towels, you're in the linen closet again..."

Huh? Boy, that would kill about 75% of all fixies that run around the streets of Americana. And don't fall for the carbon argument, plenty of those beasts in road form surviving very well.

Sweet bike. I just hate to guess the price tag.

I agree it would haul MAJOR ass, but would it take the day in and day out pounding of a city fixed? It would be a blast to dart around a city on that thing, sure. But I question its ability to be beat to the ground like many fixed gears are.

time and time again i think the logos make any bike less than beautiful. this one included. could you imagine how sleek that would look sans logos.
