Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Can't afford to be addicted, so I live vicariously through you all.

Bikes: Absolutely

I traded in my conversion for a frameset, and promptly ran out of money. I had a lot of pent up energy and was itching to ride until two weeks after that. Now I'm still broke, have the same frame sitting at the foot of my bed, and have been more stressed out than ever. Trust me... you should ask the people I work with.

There have been times when I was beginning to go in that direction, but aside from winding up having 5 wheels and only one bike, I have almost the opposite problem. I give away stuff I decide I don't really need, talk myself out of even basic purchases these days. I'm happy with what I have and aside from **** breaking/wearing out have generally lost the urge to buy more bike stuff. I have one fixed gear bike, it's my only bike, and it's mostly been that way for the last 6 years.

do you currently reside in korea? maybe the lack of space quells your inner pack rat.

Yeah, I'm still in Korea, but my apartment here is actually bigger than my apartment back in the US in terms of usable space. That said, the constraints of multiple international moves does put a damper on the urge to accumulate.

I check /bik/ on craigslist like 10 times a day. Its a shame I don't have the money or the space for everything I want.

That version of the Zipp "2001" debuted in 1993. It came in road, track, and "multi sport" (road time trial) versions.

I don't think threadless stems existed in 1993.

My dorm room sort of looks likes this only because my measly three bikes, miscellaneous cheap/broken parts, and not enough tools fill up the entirety of my space.
