Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Size question

If I normally ride a road bike with a 56cm top tube with 10-11 cm stem, could I go down in size to a 55cm top tube on a track bike with a 11 or 12cm stem? I know this will make the handlebars a little lower and a slightly stiffer frame which should be good for a track bike. Correct? Do you want to set up a track bike in a similar position as your road bike or is there a more benifit to a more compact or stretched out position? Thanks

Bikes: yes please.

i try to keep the same combined length of my top tube and stem on my road and track bikes. i also try to keep the same seat height from the center of the bb to the top of my seat.

i set up my road and track bikes the same. i try to keep the visualization of my handlebar at the stem to be in line with my front hub when in my drops... if that makes any sense.

Don't listen to anybody on this question. Size DOESN'T matter.
