Holdfast straps
Anyone have trouble skidding with these? I just got a pair and cannot seem to hold a skid with them as my foot just slides out of them. I have them installed properly (I believe), but I just cannot seem to get these things to stay on my feet. Anyone else have this problem?

just use old-skul powergrips. the genius is that when you straighten your foot the straps get tighter. its so simple yet effective.
they may look lame with the name plastered on it and be actually perceived as lame being a seldom seen/used product, but you can install them upside down non the wise. they make fixie versions too.

lol "toe knuckle"
yah i have hold fasts, i sorta had the same situation. guess i had them too tight, and my foot wasn't going far enough in. i have them more behind the toes now and skidding feels fine

I rode with these for a bit and liked them til i tried hold fasts. I found on the power grips that my shoe would bump against the crank arm as it came around sometimes and got kind of annoying. Also for skidding, the wider holdfast distributes the weight out more so they just felt more comfortable personally.

thats a good point, i forgot that this was the fixie sub forum and assumed skidding was stopping in general not a trick. yeah your right about the larger surface area providing more comfort doing skids.

You have to use them with your foot in deep
The fixed specific PG straps are ok, but the ones with metal hardware don't last very long fixed.
A 32 will have a larger contact patch, might make some difference
