Pies are not so easily carried in a messenger bag. Show up at the Minneapolis Saturday night ride tomorrow and eat some Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies.

For those of you who can't make it:

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar; cream with:
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
Combine & beat until smooth:
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp milk
Sift together; add to above:
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream sugars with butter. Combine & beat in until smooth egg, vanilla, and milk. Sift together flour, soda, baking powder, and salt and then add to the above mixture. When the batter is beaten smooth, add uncooked oats and chocolate chips (optional: 1 tsp. orange rind). Beat mixture; drop on greased cookie sheet 2" apart. Bake for 8-10 minutes at 350°.

Chicken Pot Pie

icithecat 10-22-04 06:38 PM

Calgary – The lawyer for a man accused of hitting Premier Ralph Klein in the face with a banana cream pie says the Crown is asking for an inappropriate jail term in his client's case.

Ralph Klein was hit with a pie at his Stampede breakfast in July. (CP PHOTO)
Jack Kelly says the Crown wants a 30-day sentence for 24-year-old Christopher Geoghegan, should he be convicted, and he's asked that the case be put over to Sept. 22 so he has more time to speak with his client. He says Geoghegan could plead guilty, or go to trial on the assualt charge.

"I think that's high, obviously, because previous cases have not involved jail terms, with the exception of the Prince Edward Island/[Prime Minister Jean] Chretien case," Kelly said. "So, it's my view that a jail sentence is not appropriate."

In 2000, while visiting PEI, Chretien was hit in the face with a pie by a protester. The man was sentenced to 30 days in jail, but a higher court said a conditional discharge would have been more appropriate and reduced his sentence to the eight days already served.

On July 7, Klein was hit with a banana cream pie while speaking at his annual Stampede breakfast. Last month, charges against two other men were dropped.

I like Chicken Pot Pies, but the frozen ones that are about dinner sized have over 1000 calories. They put heavy cream in those ****s. Grrrrr....

Anyone know of a light pot pie?

Take a 30min ride and you may have just burned half the calories of the pie, therefore making it only a 500 calorie pie!

cheescake is a food group of its own, often overlooked in nutritional charts.

suck it humps

ostro 10-31-04 04:50 PM

This is the season of pies, soon we will all be eating pies!

ostro 10-31-04 05:01 PM

Ok, i already posted this elsewhere, but it is truly a shocking discovery...

Pie definitions:
1. A baked food composed of a pastry shell filled with fruit, meat, cheese, or other ingredients, and usually covered with a pastry crust.

2. A layer cake having cream, custard, or jelly filling.

therefore all pies are cakes but not all cakes are pies, so this basically means we are all eating cake even if we are eating a pie.

Better shut those pie holes, now we can have our cake (or was that pie) and eat it too...

bostontrevor 10-31-04 05:03 PM

Whoa! So Boston creme pie is, in fact, a pie!! This has truly been a conundrum for me. No, really. I'm serious.

fixinskitchin 10-31-04 05:39 PM

to all those who have helped me in my search for watermelon pie, I really appreciate your efforts. I look forward to trying the jello pie thing. I was really hoping for something hot, something to melt ice cream on. The new question is alamode or straight?
