I'd have to disagree. Your bike reflects your personality. If you got style your bike obviously will look good. Here's my old bike and it looks great with gold cranks and my current build will look much sexier
The problem from an artistic perspective is that the finish of the colors usually compliment each other, and golds finish doesn't really match many others. As well, its sort of in between orange and yellow... Red and blue go good with yellow, and purple and green go good with orange, but gold really doesn't mesh up with any other colors. If gold is the primary goal, and you don't have any other colors, sometimes it can be pulled off.. but the majority of the time it doesn't. |
There is a rumor that leader is going to break into the mini velo market...

Aside from a different method of wrapping the bar tape (Obsessive compulsive perfectionist speaking) and maybe a spoke card in the rear, I don't think there is one thing I'd change about your bike... It's perfect.... Well maybe a Sugino Track chainring instead of the FSA...too wordy for mine eyes BTW Nice HN silver logo :innocent: |
Those new frames look awesome. The welds are so smoooooooooooth! And as for gold parts, my gold Miche cranks rule dick. Got run over, frame was trashed, but the goldies are still running strong.

I'm thinking about picking up a 721TR V2.5 from Coghouse for a build this fall/winter. Does anyone have any opinions?
Oh yeah, will the Eightinch 68x107 BB be compatible with the 721? Thanks! |
That BB will fit the frame but the spindle length you'll need depends on which crankset you'll be using.
|
I'll probably end up buying the Eightinch crankset as well as the BB. Any info on the quality of the frame and if it is a good deal or not?
|
The 721 is a great frame. TT has one and loves it. The only difference between the 721 and 725 V2 is the seat tube.

Actually, I have the V2.0, which lacks the stainless steel plates on the insides of the dropouts. The V2.5 is better in that it now has the inner dropout plates. Here's some photos I took today with the carbon stem spacers and top cap, and the brake lever moved to the left side, which allowed me to shorten the cable housing by 1/2 for a much cleaner install. I thought I might have a hard time getting used to the front brake lever on the left side, but no problems since I use it maybe once in a blue moon anyways. The bike and wheels are so light that stopping with the legs only is real easy. I think this winter I'm going to have to replace the Tioga Spyder saddle with something a bit more comfy. After 20 miles it's murder.

Speaking of the inner frame saver inserts; I never knew the previous 725 and 721 didn't have inner inserts; I thought they had them too; from the assumption from the fact that my 727 has them...
@ scrod => SEXY!!! I love it! Maybe that's what I'll do with my front s80 now that I'm running a bora ultra 2 front on my roadie. I really like how you chose the "noir" s80, which fits in so well, instead of the traditional one with sram livery in red. You must love how active and responsive the handling is now with an s80; especially coming from a boat anchor 'spoke. |
