Hard to say, but such an amazing ****ty site doesn't inspire confidence. They look like classic online hucksters from 1999.

Just want to give a random big-up to City Grounds. They have been super responsive on a recent order of mine.

Just wanted to put out Titusti.com

(shop.titusti.com)

They're an american planet X dealer, and I ordered an On-one external bearing crankset, which arrived a day early.

https://shop.titusti.com/product-p/csootc.htm

came out to $112.51 shipped for what looks pretty much like the Origin 8 external bearing crankset, so far I'm pretty impressed with it, but I'll be getting a review together in short order.

Pretty solid if I do say so myself.

bikeisland, since they moved their official location from outside dallas to down the street from me I shot him and email asking if I could just come pick it up. And since I was buying a 'damaged' (scratched) frame if I could look at it. He said I couldn't look at it and that if I came in to buy the bike it would cost me more. so he ships it and its here the next day (because it literally went out to the UPS facility, turned around and came back to the same neghborhood).

comes in: not too terribly scratched (as noted), covered in bike grease, something stuck to the headtube that I can't remove at the moment, no stem and the most wobbly wheels of all time it's scary that people ride these things out of the box.

i emailed him about it, hopefully I at least get compensated for the stem

yeah haha. I guess they really don't want to deal with people face to face.

here's the email, he was friendly -- it's just bizarre. I didn't ask for photos of the bike, just wanted to view the damage

Hello and thanks for your interest in our bikes. I'm sorry but taking photos of each bike involves taking it out of the box, removing all the packaging, photographing, and then re-packaging and re-boxing. We'd rather just discount the bike ( like we've done) and have you be pleasantly surprised when you get it. If you want a perfect one, please visit www.bikesdirect.com. As far as picking up in person, we actually charge more for that. :-) Sorry. We will ship whatever you want and you'll have it at your door step the next day.
Thanks for your inquiry.
Best regards,

if I was using this bike for anything but polo I would be so unhappy with only an $80 discount for the condition it's in.

Ah, double stick foam tape. Soak it in WD40 for a while and it should come off without too much of a fight.

Rubbing alcohol works great too.

or Goof Off, but that may take the paint off too. That stuff is amazing.

if wd-40 doesnt work i find goo gone to be the best at cleaning crap like that off, if that doesnt work then i go for:
plastic scrapers too like old discount or club cards from stores so they dont ruin finish/paint

It's a Motobecane from Bike Island's 'scratch & dent' selection. Anything goes.

I've been buying my bike parts from Bells Bike Shop, for me they are amazing, communication is always good, despite the time difference, i live in Jakarta, INDONESIA GMT+7

Byron from BBS has been really helpful, and patience with all my inquiries.

Beside Bells Bike Shop, i've bought from Universal Cycles, Bike Wagon, and Chain and Sprockets UK, and i must say, they all equally good.

Highly recommended for all those 4 online shops, competitive price, prompt delivery and quality parts.

followed up with bikeisland, since I was missing the nut for the brake and my tubes were punctured. told them I wanted to keep it but to just list this as a scratched frame wasn't enough, that if it was for anything other than what I'm using it for I'd return it out of principal but really just wanted them to know it discouraged me from making future purchases with them and that I didn't want anything in return (basically just wanted to know this **** shouldn't fly)

he replied with "say the word and we'll come pick it up". heh. just wanted some acknowledgement.

other end of the spectrum: needed some items from scrod that he doesn't even list on his site. he got them both to to me in just a few days

Two excellent German webshops that ship anywhere in EU:

bike-components.de

and

roseversand.de

Excellent prices (especially for Schwalbe and Conti tires) and super-reasonable shipping charges.

I apologize if these were posted earlier already. I doubt it, though, as I suppose this thread is mostly dominated by US webshops.

Another EU webshop that I know being very reliable, is www.cyclecomponents.com
It's based in Sweden, and the prices aren't quite as good as with the German shops, but if reliable is what you're asking for, Cyclecomponents is that. They always ship quickly and pack meticulously.

A few weeks old now, but did you ever get around to writing that review? It looks like a hell of a deal.

Nashbar trustworthy?

Hi everyone

I haven't been here for a while. Looking to replace parts that were stolen on my bike, and I am short on cash.

was looking at Nashbar.

I remember a few months ago reading that people were finding Nashbar to be sketchy. It IS in the reliable online dealers thread, but Im just wondering whats up. What is your experience with Nashbar? Is there an aura of mistrust surrounding it? even just a little bit?

I just want to know so I can replace my bike as soon as possible. Only need a few significant parts.

thanks guys.

They're in the reliable thread for a reason. This discussion should be taking place there.
