Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Threads like these are why I keep coming back to this site.

PS: In my [short] time here, I don't think I've ever seen a thread stay on topic, except the Post Your Bike threads.

at the local FG shop, they were projecting a rear Weinmann DP18 wheel to be around 180 for ONE rear wheel. When I saw that they have them online for around 100 for the entire wheelset, I was really shocked.

Take it from a guy who works in a bike shop - shop prices usually just flat out suck.

Salsa makes a color like that tape, treefortbikes has it for less than $15 in at least 3 different shades of natural cork.

Jeez, I didn't even notice that. Must be a tiny girl. Iggy Pop would be drooling.

Dang. As I mentioned, I'm building up a 3-speed fixed gear, and I found a complete Sturmey-Archer rear hub/ Weinmann wheel on eBay. I want to put some Ruffy Tuffy's on them, which I believe are just a hair under 28...if someone's running thirty frickin eights, I've got nothing to worry about.
