I am a body shop technician at a local car dealership. It sucks since my employer of 11 years turned into a sell out, and sold the dealership to a competing company "so he could put his wife and kids through college." I wish he wouldn't have lied to us like that, but whatevs.

I used to machine. Went to school for it actually.

Cool stuff, but extremely difficult and an underpaid trade. Go to school, get your degree while contining to machine, and then open a shop.

Somebody hook me up with an summer engineering internship in the Chicago area!!!

I am also a student at the University of Illinois - Urbana-Champaign. Studying civil engineering. And I shall follow my friend's shameless attempt to find an internship. HAHA

Let me know if there are any civil engineers here that work in NYC :D

I am also pursuing photography on the side, klaw.smugmug.com, kevinlawphotography.wordpress.com.

And hopefully, I am trying to find a house on campus next year with a garage and potentially start a bike shop.

haha someone gave me a good idea, I think I shall hit up the local newspapers to find employment as a photo journalist. XD

Business card sez "Security Research Programmer" for the Cybersecurity Directorate at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois (Urbana). We have some summer internships, but they're computer science related.

My other job is PT working as a lifeguard, watching old people swim at the local YMCA.

I'm 51 ... if you're in your 30s, you're not old yet. I'm pretty sure that still applies even if you're in your 50s (though that may depend somewhat on how you spent your 20s and 30s).

I have a Civil Engineering Degree with a focus on Transportation. Did some transportation planning for a while, before I decided to chase the music / sound pipe dream in NY (talk about a walking hipster cliché).

Been almost 5 years already. Feel like I've forgotten almost everything about it. Might need a hardcore refresher course soon if I decide to get back into it.

Please get back to it. This world needs more people who understand both the engineering side and the planning side. I'm tired of fighting with engineers.

Been considering it lately more than ever. Getting into cycling has definitely helped "reignite the flame" a bit.

we should talk, when I'm not working in the legal field by day, I book shows at night. New venue opening up in Bushwick off the Morgan Stop L train. Always looking for new promoters ect.

NateRod 01-26-11 03:14 PM

What's the name of the venue? We recently played a loft party close around the Morgan stop, and it was a great crowd. We're always looking for new venues to play at.

Also (shameless plug of the day, but related to the thread), we're kicking off a monthly residency at Le Poisson Rouge (LPR) next Thursday. Anyone here who's in the greater NYC area should definitely drop by
