Weight is not an issue here ... bike frame made from re-bar ..

Rad! Nice to see rebar getting some love over on this forum!

I guess it's better than having the stuff being driven through your body the least....

Nothing jackass about that cardboard bike. That thing is awesome.

I wouldn't be surprised.

Don't have pics, but I just seen a jackass on campus.

He had his risers cut waaaaaaaaaay down, basically nubs. Don't worry though, he still had space for his clip on aero bars.

Brakeless, and based on his cadence, he was running some massive gear, no helmet, headphones in, sunglasses on, ready to cruise through downtown san jose.

I bet that guy never in his life thought his build would ever end up in a jackass thread. Even the pedalroom comments are bad.

I know this is old, but can someone please explain why this is bad? All I see is a solid build.

Scrodzilla 10-15-12 02:22 PM

Are you kidding me?

First of all, the frame is HUGE for him judging by the saddle height. Then come the (untaped) bullhorns with a super long stem that are set up HIGHER than the saddle - on a pursuit frame no less. Topping it off, we have a budget crankset and BMX pedals. Total mess.

Here's the pic again, just so we can relive it:

It doesn't fit the rider, it has no discernible purpose, and it looks stupid.

edit- And here's another solid build.

FixedDriveJess 10-15-12 02:31 PM

So, this has nothing to do with the build besides crankset and pedals. I noticed the saddle and stem, but figured that couldn't be why it's a jackass bike.

Scrodzilla 10-15-12 02:33 PM

Can you read?

Fixed gear bikes are pretty simple. Although builder only messed up a few things, they are all critical and amount to a jackass totality.

I hate the white chain for what it will look like if the bike ever gets rode on a regular basis...

FixedDriveJess 10-15-12 02:39 PM

Easy.

This has nothing to do with the bike. The rider just doesn't know how to build one properly. Those parts are ****ing awesome and I'd love to have them (not the cranks or pedals).

Which makes it a jackass build.

You obviously don't get it. A bunch of great ingredients can still make a ****ty meal if the cook doesn't know what to do with them.

ive always hoped to see jared leto in the city riding his hipstermobile around but alas, i have not.

i enjoy him as an actor and musician (before the last 30stm cd) but hes a trend***** without a doubt

Ok, I get it now.

8bits 10-15-12 06:18 PM

don't forget that he's running a tubular wheelset on the street for no reason other than looks, that is jackass.

SillyGooseCooki 10-15-12 07:01 PM

I'd love to see what he looks like on the bike. I mean, slammed seatpost, but what appears to be a 120mm stem. So either he has the strangest proportions of any human being, or he has no clue what he's doing and is really stretched out on the bike. I'm going to go with the latter. Also, brakeless with tubulars?

The owner clearly had money to burn. That is, up until the crankset & pedals.
