Best eBay deal ever
Not really, but it makes for a catchy thread. I found a Deda Zero100 stem at my local Co-Op and picked it up for $55. I wanted to get a matching seatpost, so I hunted a few down on eBay and watched from a distance.
I'm a last minute pounce'r and it payed off, I won a matching seatpost for right around $30. Waited a week for it to show up, and to my surprise when I opened the box, another stem!
Contacted the eBay seller, who tells me he sent out 9 boxes on the same day! My seatpost could be anywhere... But I am crossing my fingers that he mixed up the stem and the seatpost box, so some guy in Michigan whom won the stem got my seatpost, and I got his/her stem.
Anybody else have any fun, exciting, difficult, or down right infuriating incidents with eBay that you would like to share?

I have had the worst luck with eBay lately, mainly with it signing me out at the last minute for some reason, so my bid does not go through.
So, I bought what I wanted new, and my ass is as happy as can be.

My plans thwarted again by eBay. Went to purchase my spokes and 3 days later the seller contacts me telling me he doesn't have them in stock. My set of wheels will have to wait.

Lilc - what length do you need?
I've had really good luck as a seller on eBay. One of the better examples is when I sold the stock Truvativ Touros that came on my Kilo and were well over a year old to a dude in Australia for $110 + shipping. It was weird...I started the auction at 50 bucks thinking that's all I'd get and two dudes just just kept outbidding each other on them.

Ditto. I went round and round on the Ebay with a certain thing (Order: out of stock. Order a different listing. Out of stock). Found out that it was the same store posting with several IDs. . . I ended up getting one from the actual store's site, go figure.

ive gotten a 35 dollar miche supertype seatpost (was stoked on that one), a 40 dollar thomson elite seatpost, 30 dollar thomson elite stem (stoked on that one), a 20 dollar miche advanced chainring and a 20 dollar blackspire chainring. all used but good enough aesthetically for me, and obviously functional.
those are pretty much my best ebay deals.

I've had pretty good luck with eBay as a buyer. The only issue I've had is not receiving a camera case I bought, but I'm working that out with the buyer right now. I've gotten some pretty good deals on $150 saddles for less than $45 each. I've had OK luck as a seller, but I'm a pretty inexperienced seller as is.

I think my best Ebay deal was selling my old Thinkpad 600 for a bit less than $300, that was. . 5 years ago, maybe. Other than that a smattering of communication parts and LCD panels here and there. . .
The worst was a CAAD8 for $620 ($540 + $80) from some guy in Florida that decided he couldn't ship it for $80 (I guess he didn't get much as he wanted), so I had to open a paypal claim for my money back.

For bigger items... the price of shipping bike parts via USPS vs UPS evens out when you're shipping road forks; past that and UPS is cheaper. PLUS UPS's tracking is actually reliable as opposed to USPS's which seems like a farcry.

Yeah, UPS is generally cheaper.
I even gave him the number of a local bike shop in his area that would pack and ship it for him. . never heard back. But I got my money back. Never found as good a deal though, obviously.
I think I bought pretzels. and an Opteron for one of my old 939 boards.

UPS has damaged way too many things I've both shipped and and received - and putting in a claim with them is usually like pulling teeth. I only ship UPS if I absolutely HAVE to.
BTW - the last frame I shipped (my Premium Brew sold on eBay), UPS wanted 32 bucks before insurance. USPS was $24 insured.
