Bikes: Bike Count: Rising.

When my 930 wasn't broken, I used a pair of spin style spd shoes on my sylvans.

I know you don't want to hear this but maybe some nylon/plastic double gate clips? They are like $10.

Bikes: , Jury Bike, Moto Outcast 29, Spicer standard track frame and spicer custom steel sprint frame.

vans, tuk creeper sneakers, converse, addidas sambas and spezials, diadora shoes with slotted cleats
I would say ditch the double gate mess and run standard clips and cris cross your straps it will be fine
or get toe clip leathers from VO

These Nike SB slip ons have about the same profile as Vans, and once they break in are super comfy. The toe box is made out of some material that is for skating in, so it is more durable than cloth Vans. They can be had for like $40-$80 depening on what year/colorway I think.

Leather Vans slip-ons FTW.

The perforated ones are awesome. I've got a pair that are nearly five years old.

well, since pretty much my chief complaint about riding in clips in general is top of the toe pain (when riding fixed...pulling up and slowing down) i think im going to stick with adidas superstars because thats what has been comfiest. but they are just on the bulky side for me....so i might try to find these, superstar eldridge skate shoe. supposedly a slimmer fitting version of the shelltoe...

Speaking of Adidas, I totally forgot I got a pair of Gazelle Skates for Xmas. I haven't ridden in them - or even worn them yet - but they seem pretty durable, have pretty stiff soles and are a little beefier than regular Gazelles.

I wear sambas on GR9s all the time and don't have this issue. But, i run double straps on a single-strap one-gate deep clip on a pedal that's not meant for double straps, so i'm not sure exactly what part of that might fix your problems.

i think my top to toe pain is a personal anatomical problem....yah i think im going to try some superstar eldridge. that rubber toe top basically solves all pain issues with metal clips. i guess i could look into spd buuuut ive already got clips and dont feel like spending money on spd specific shoes AND spd pedals. besides i need new shoes anyway and i love the look of the quad gate clips and double straps lol

Bikes: everywhere

Running shoe nerd myself, essential for long rides, IMO. I'll roll out in vans, airwalks, etc for short trips tho. Boots in the rain.

Current pair:

chucks are not going to have more padding than sambas. Have you tried samba milleniums? Those slip in and out of straps easily. I also have vans and etnies, but comparatively they are "square[1]" and sliding them into the straps is tricky compared to sambas. I bought a pair of the bikeage odyssey combos and although you cannot tighten them on the fly there's a much fatter strap area, so less pressure on any one point. If your issue really is the strap cutting into the toe, then rather than buying clod shoes you should get some wider straps.

[1]talking about the sole's edges, rounded on sambas - square on vans. Sticky square shoes tend to grab and flip the pedals back over when you really want your foot to slide in. This isn't a problem with the plastic bmx pedals and fat straps, just with the MKS tracks.

Shoot! I wear size 7.5, haha. Now... size 7 or 8... haha. Do you know if they run big or small? Or are they pretty true to size?

I'm all about the Nike Cortez. They slip in and out of the clips easy enough, they're relatively light weight, and they are durable. I also wear vans sometimes but they are too flexible.

Word to the wise: Don't wear shox. My toes get crushed wearing these on my bike Not to mention the material snags

If you're typically a 7.5, go with 8.

Nike5 Gato indoor soccer shoes. A little on the wide side, but nice, solid, flat sole and rubber overlays in the toe area that work perfect for clips.
