Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I haven't skidded much since I switched to drops from Bullhorns but that could also be because the roads are covered in sand right now so skidding is hazardous

9 months of commuting? I rack up at least 100 a week doing group rides.

I cant skid on my FG road bike on pavement to save my life.

Skidding on my FG Mt. bike, on the other hand, feels totally natural. With the low gearing and dirt traction, I don't need to do the hipster "balls on the stem" thing. I can get my arse over the back tire and slide all the way down a hill. I really only use the rear disk on pavement.

Not a good idea at all, did you know you can get something similar to a DUI on a bike?

This thread is wrong and the question is wrong.

Do I skid? Yes, sometimes. Sometimes when I apply pressure to my pedals in an attempt to slow down I end up with a skid.

However, do I skid with the intention of skidding and just looking cool? Rarely.

They are two very different questions. Is this poll biased? Yes.

(am I a psychology major who has spent the past 2 days and will spend two more studying how to be a clinician and ask the right questions? Yes. And its driving me mad.)

My friends sisters boyfriend (I know, pretty long relation) got one for riding drunk. A BUI, in fact. And of course, in Davis 3 squad cars are needed. Seriously.
