Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Myself and a few of my pals actually did the extra century loop on the MS150 City to Shore back in September. It was my first century, but I'm not sure it really counts... real century rides don't have rest stops with all-you-can-eat Clif bars every 15 miles =]

I dont do organized centuries on principle. I have certainly done many 100+ mile rides though.

Real centuries have all the cake stops you can fit into them!

I was goaded into agreeing to do the Dunwich Dynamo (https://www.londonschoolofcycling.co.uk/dunwich.html) on fixed next year. I've not done more than a leisurely twenty on it so far, so how different is an all-day ride on a fix from a gearie?
