Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

That's the steel frame, not the $500 aluminum one.

Thanks. I actually didn't notice they were upside down till you said that. I put them on the pedals off the bike real quick and didn't really pay attention. Yes its the steel frame and I love it.

Nothing personal. No offense given or taken. I rode for thirty years with toe straps, and there is a preferred install that puts the strap ends up for easier adjustment. But today, young folk do everything already proven correct, in the opposite manner. Fashion before function! That actually describes the entire fixed gear phenomenon.

Oh, and I need to build up my post count so that I can send a PM. For some silly reason, I can receive a PM but not reply to it!

You need to have 50 posts before being able to send PMs. It filters out the spammers.

Now that the Pake is no longer relvant to my interests, the VISP is. Are there any Geo charts for them online? Sloping top-tubes?

that's because it's deda tape wrapped in an inner tube. so it's super thick and ugly.

geo is on the auction page, https://stores.ebay.com/cycoole

F17V0925 by MyCuteLife, on Flickr

'88 Prologue. It's finally rideable. 47/17 cassette conversion kit on the black "Rocket Ring"/white KMC chain, Ultegra triple octalink cranks. Juxtaposition of a useless object and negative space: AKA 39t gear as spacer in outer position. (looks stupid with nothing there too, at least this is shiny.)

Dura Ace front Hub, 650 front wheel (instead of 24"), Kinesis aluminnum fork, 600 8/9sp. rear hub, Origin 8 blue riser (Navy blue, darker than Chris King blue in real life, BTW), RBP red-lever brakes for canti (feel like discs set too tight), Dura Ace seat post, Delta 45 degree riser stem, Blue Chris king nothreadset, red spacers, Dura Ace 7800 brakes, Dura Ace track pedals, Mirror-polished 2 leg stand (both legs flip up on left), Velocity AeroHead fron rim, Weimann Deep-V type rear rim, Clarks white brake housings, pink carbon fiber bottle cage, Specialized Avatar saddle, Cat Eye lights, "Freedom" red leather straps (ironic).

So, besides the usual haters, does anybody know of something cool to bolt on to shifter lugs?? There ought to be some hipster-art solution...

Yeah, that's all I had in the box at the moment. They are goofy. Drops are better for me in the wind or on flats, but I can't climb as well with them. Since I need to climb a lot, I will probably put the risers back on. It was fun to try the drops out though, I can see why that's what you'd ride on a track.

looks hard to pull our your rear wheel though
silver seatpost/stem + chrome track drops would complete the look imo

Upcoming changes...

Shorter Stem
Changing front tubular tan/black tire to all black
Maybe I'm changing the grip tape to all black also.
Black chain
Add toeclips, strap and pedals.
