Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Thanks, I need to get a freewheel and stuff so I can finish connecting the brakes. Then I will have a second bike my friends can ride.

After not having a fixed gear bike for a few months, it was defiantly time to throw something together. I bought the frame, fork, pedals, straps & tires for this build everything else was sitting around. Went cheap cause I kinda wanted a beater that I can learn a few tricks with (shorter stem is on order). Only done a few short rides with it (such a rainy spring) but so far so good.

I did some hand drawn mandala type schtuff on the chainring.

& the classic chainline shot.

naw, just put a strip of electrical tape over the logo's on both sides. its barely noticeable from 5 feet away.

edit: i think yours might be an older/newer model, the logo on mine starts quite a bit lower than yours.

Yeah, the previous owner put SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) reflective tape all over it. That stuff's indestructible. I don't mind, and when a picture's taken at night, with flash, it looks like it's made out of lasers...

Updated pics with my new bars. Still need bar tape.
Thinking of maybe getting a better rear wheel.

I'm 6'3 with about a 34in inseam.
This is what GT calls their XL frame. It measures out to be like a 58cm.
It is also like a compact geo like a road bike which makes it look small.
Ive only seen three as of now built.

Here's my newest bike and my first single speed! Just got it Thursday so it's all just stock - nothing really interesting. Except that because I am super short, it's a 43cm with 650c wheels; it's teeny. And I love the yellow. I think I'd like eventually to get away from all the black - I'm thinking chrome seatpost, stem, cranks, etc, and maybe bullhorn handlebars with red bar tape. We'll see. I'm in love as-is so even if nothing changed, I'd be a happy girl.

The shop flipped the stem for me because I wasn't used to how low the track drops were, and they threw a freewheel on the flip-flop hub. Once I get used to the bike I plan to switch it back and learn how to ride fixed.

Picked this one up a few weeks ago, it's a really cheap factory fixie in about the same league as a fuji classic. The geometry is a little funny as you can see, with the short seat tube making it slightly low profile. I'm in the process of changing parts to suit my needs, started by getting rid of the stock bar/stem and putting on a 3ttt/Nitto/Paul combo which I like more.. The bike feels great so far, gonna get more upgrades along the way
