I'm hearing some clicking as I'm pedaling (I haven't serviced the BB area all throughout the winter). From a quick Google search that I've done, it could be the pedal spindles or the BB. In either case, how does one service the BB (specifically the bearings) on the Kilo? I remember adjusting the steerer a while back and the cheap Cane Creek headset came undone and revealed the bearings, which I don't think I was supposed to see. That's basically all the experience I have with bearings in general.

Speaking of which, the headset's also a little stiff. If I lift the front end of the bike, the stiffness of the headset doesn't allow the handlebars to turn on their own, only pointing them straight. Only when I push the handlebars a little, do they move. Perhaps I'll have to stop by the LBS sometime soon to have them check it out. Not in the mood to buy any new parts at the moment.

Is there a way I can learn to service the bearings myself? I feel like there are special tools and grease necessary, which I don't own.

This confuses me. If it fits, it fits.

Looking at your measurements, you could go either way. If you want more seatpost showing then the obvious answer is to go with the 47. I'd probably go with the 50 though, I think the 50 will likely come with a 90mm stem (mine did) so you'll be pretty good with fit.

You don't really service a cartridge type BB. Maybe clean it out a bit to see if that helps, but they're generally replaced when they're worn.

Thanks for the link. What do you mean by cleaning it? Just remove the cranks and try to extract as much dirt as possible?

Today I got my 50cm Green Kilo stripper and it fits like a glove. I really have to thank Walnutz, muckymucky, Jaytron and everyone that helped me choose the right size bike. I must say that the Kilo looks so much better in person compared to retail photos online lol. Very nice bike. Thanks guys!

Anybody got any experience with the Kilo lugged frame? I want to get it in 47cm but I'm afraid that the top tube would be slightly slanted upwards, just like the Kilo TT of the same size.

I would say just to wipe everything down, and re-grease the BB etc.

Hm, I've had my TT Pro since March '08, but the bike is still fine to ride.

I don't know if I want to repaint it or upgrade to a new frame.

What do?

I do need new wheels, though, for sure.

if your bike isnt falling apart or squeeking as fk, just keep riding it. upgrading would only satisfy your ego and not your wallet.
get a pista concept if you upgrade. not mine. not for sale. like EVER

Yeah, that's why I was just thinking about painting it because I've wanted a bright yellow bike for the longest time, but both of my bags are bright yellow, so that might be a bit much.

I saw a dude cruise by on a bright pink 3rensho last week. I was so jelly.

I'm a fan of all-black as well, simply because I don't like drawing attention. >.< I feel like having flashier parts would draw a thief's attention. Obviously, I'm limiting myself with this thought, but.

You can never really go wrong with black. The only color I have on my bike is my frame, and some parts on the Toupe saddle, but it's all black for the most part.

Front light is even black; rear one is white, though.

I like my lights bright colors so I can see them in black hole singularity type places (my bedroom, my bag, your moms *****)

Haven't posted here in a while... Been hanging out in the road bike forums mostly as of late. But thought I'd poke my head in and share my Kilo TT that I built up about 3 years ago... in its current state. it has always been the commuter/city bike next to my road bike. I've beat it up pretty badly over the years and put thousands of miles on it but it's still holding up okay... the cheapo crank (pake) I bought when I built it could be replaced now, though.... Sorry for crappy cell phone pics. Pretty generic build but I like it :-)
