Also I want a tallbike. My friend on a Tallbike and I rode through Melrose. He got too much attention. I'm jelly.

Time to break out the welder...

sell cheap a$$ converted fgss bikes i build up from donated/used parts and sell them to snarky Brown University kids who want so bad to be hipster for more than double the price they are worth. i also sell them dumpster clothing and other goodies found in dumpsters.

This post is a tribute to those little girls and boys who lost their lives to the tire clearance fiasco. Corporal punishment.

Buzzkill. Any sources or threads where this is discussed?
Also what was the tire clearance fiasco?

you must be the dude up in woonsocket? glad to know your feelings about your "customers"

redpear 08-23-11 10:01 AM

Relax, dude. He's just fact-checking. I don't want to derail the thread but I'm curious as well, so if you have any links, that'd be nice.

i am actually in olneyville. the bikes are all good bikes, but we get almost everything donated to us, alot actually comes from bikes the brown students left on campus over the summer, so what they are paying for is mostly labor charges. but we can price a fgss up to 100 bucks higher than other bikes and they will sell like hotcakes to college students wanting some hipster cred.

Sheesh, and after all these years I thought that tattoo shops, savers and Julian's dealt out all the hipster cred in providence... What's this town cOming to? I'm getting old and behind the times I guess.

CharneK 08-23-11 08:35 PM

I just bought a thickslick over a gatorskin cause I like the print of the logo better.

yeah the list actually goes on ... been here for a decade, I've had to witness the evolution firsthand. Just wait until all the rich college kids catch on to the all hipster cred available when they rent mill space for residence in Olneyville and try to look like they have no money and stop bathing ... oops that's already happening.

Tell your cheeks my condolences. Anyhow I swapped over my swift Ti from my roadie after my 1st ride to swap out my arione to minimize saddle sores.

Scrodzilla 08-24-11 01:21 PM

I just gave Ben's 35 bucks for a Protype BB.

oof.

Now why would you compromise the bottom bracket when you obviously did not for the crankset?
Having owned both, the protype is a distant fry cry from the legitimate 75 loose ball.

Scrodzilla 08-24-11 01:33 PM

Bceause I'd rather replace a BB every now and then than mess with loose ball anything. That's just me.

yup it's rampant, they're everywhere... I love Providence, but I can't help but laugh a bit sometimes at some of the kids around here, to each their own I suppose. I'd rather have them than the guido euro trash I've have to deal with on the hill since 2002.

jpsawyer 08-25-11 01:14 PM

confession: i own some track drops and put them on my bike occasionally because i love the look of them and keep telling myself i will get used to them and that i will like them, but i dont know if i ever will.

Scrodzilla 08-25-11 01:18 PM

You won't.

jpsawyer 08-25-11 01:35 PM

rithem 08-25-11 01:38 PM

but riding with your hands at the stem does not.

DeusVolt 08-25-11 02:26 PM

I really, really like my ****ty, beat up, stripped-hub Dawes MTA. So far the decision to purchase it has been excellent. I now know that improperly tightened lockrings = hub death eventually. I also now know what a ***** brakes can be. Ooh man. My bike is so ugly I'm almost proud.

nuhtowel 08-25-11 02:30 PM

I love the way hipsters glare at my bike

hamfoh 08-25-11 04:15 PM

I love the cinelli mash histogram

like...

a LOT
