I sign up to the newsletter when I am interested in buying, otherwise I unsubscribe. They aren't annoyingly frequent and its useful if the things you are interested in are out of stock. I'm interested in building or buying a new MTB...a really nice one that I can ride for a long time....but I am not in a hurry. I don't know if I'll go with a BD bike, but I can tell you that when I decide to pull the trigger on something new, what they have in stock will factor heavily into my decision.
This is a great way to use the newsletter
An example just came up; a supplier ask me to take the last few of a jumping bike
which instead of listing on the site as there are so few
we will just sell thru a newsletter post
this type of item that can go out without ever hitting the site will probably become more common
