Campagnolo Victory road cranks

Hey all,

I've got a set of Campy Victory road cranks sitting around at home and I was thinking of putting them on my old Jeunet track bike but I wanted to gauge opinions on here first.

Naturally, I would use the 52t chainring and just use washers or something to make up for the distance at the back of the crank arms.

The bike is already set up with a 3/32" ring cog and chain and I've liked it - but that's simply how it was sold to me, and I haven't changed anything yet. I figured I'd ask around before making the swap. Is it worth it to swap everything out for 1/8". I should note that this bike is used on the road, and does not spend time at the track.

Thanks!

is the 52 a Campy one? If so, don't change it just because of width issues. You'll spend quite a bit to get a 1 1/8" one again.

Chain and cog could be had for $40 but chainring is where you'll have to pay a lot.

Campy "Victory" had a somewhat unique 116mm BCD and chainrings other than 52T and 42T are pretty scarce. No rings for 1/8" chain IIRC.

Yes, the chainring is Campy. I don't reckon I'd have an easy time finding new "Victory" chainrings, and really, that's fine with me. What I am most curious about is whether or not people think the road cranks will do just as well as 'track specific' or true fixed gear cranks.

Basically a) would I be needlessly destroying the Campy's and b) would I be seriously better off with track cranks, or not really?

That's fine with me. I am running a 50t now with a 17 in back and I am ready for a step up. Although I would like to have a slightly smaller cog, I don't want to move down to the 42T as that would be way too soft. I think a 52t - 17tcog would be a decent enough ride. I think the bolt pattern on the Victory is pretty standard, no?
I should be able to get away with a non-campy replacement ring?
