I got clever last night...I have one of those claw things that I use in my large fish tank to move things around. I took that and went to where I lost the bottle...crawled in a bit enough to reach the bottle and got it! Luckily living in AZ means there's not much junk in the sewer opening. It didn't even look that dirty, just a scuff or two. I'm still soaking it just in case, but I got it!!! Go me!
Today, I have either a food-borne illness, or the flu. No fun. |
Today I took the rubber and cassette off the A23s and have them ready to sell. Such a light wheelset.

Today I almost finished my GT mountain bike conversion. Went to the Recyclery to find a derailleur hanger for my chain tensioner. I couldn't find the old one and got lucky finding a perfect fit. I think I may have donated it and I ended up buying it back. Anyway, got home, got the chain right, and went to work on the brakes. The last step. I made a stupid mistake. I ran the brake line through the housing for the rear brake to get an idea how much housing I needed and then I laid it down to get a tool. Came back to the housing and cut right through the brake line. Cut it WAY too short. And the bike shops are all closed. I'm hoping that is a common rookie build mistake and not just another sign that a picture of me belongs in the jackass thread.
So close to finishing... But, I got to ride it for the first time with just the front brake. This is my first complete tear down and rebuild. Major rush when you're finished. Feeling very accomplished. |
Today I rode dirt.

Today I bought my first project, I got an old shwinn varsity. It looks to be late 70's or early 80's. I'm new to all this. What parts do I need after I strip the bike down. And what's the best way to get rust off of the frame?

Tried to install fenders on the Stumpjumper today, and discovered that I had lost more tools than I thought. What's really frustrating is that they stole my sittin' bucket, which they presumably used to gather up all my stuff.

Today I'm in Palm Springs, DJing a friend's wedding. Checking in on BF while waiting on backup/software update.
Sadly no playing bieks on this west coast trip this time, but I did get to take my 1.5-yr-old to Disneyland. He loves trains so the monorail pretty much blew his mind. http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4...yo2fo1_500.jpg |
