Wow thats impressive.

That's about as many miles as I get in a 5-day riding week (unless it is a race or rest week) and I have been primarily of the road-racing persuasion for more than a few years tho.

I can probably count on one hand the amount of times I have ridden >or= 60mi. on a fixed.

I still own a fg and ride it occasionaly (almost 1/week, more during the winter) and so my post counts and I still get to post here lol.

Infact I took it out for about 2.5 hours today. However many miles that was I do not know. These days it's only a hr monitor and a stopwatch/clock to track effort and time, no cycle computer as speed/distance is pretty meaningless.

If you have done 3 metrics you know that it isn't that hard to ride 60 miles... if you have about 4 hours in a day to spare.

When I spend a week commuting to and from the frame shop I will ride 500 km and then ride more as I live a car free life and have often tossed in a full century on an off day to give me weeks of 700 plus km.

If you have ever toured 100 km a day is a pretty light pace.

Aha it's nothing really to me considering the stuff and pace I do on my roadie which I happen to be in between builds with. Last nights ride was nothing; gotta love natural cooling.

Time is the primary issue here really.... and probably my knees; started using my front brake more to spare the brunt.

I'm getting ready for back-to-back centuries this weekend with camping in the middle. The riding will be slow with and with a sag wagon but I haven't ridden a century in quite a while, let alone a second the following morning. I have been preparing the whole day and debating whether I should go fixed or geared, but going fixed just seems dumb at this point.

Oh, and I really do have the most Jewish family. I mentioned the trip at shabbat dinner and I was forced to take enough food to feed an army. My aunt and grandmother just got mad at me when I told them I have enough. :)

Have ridden many metrics on my fg and many of those have been back to back to back and many full centuries on the fg with a fair amount of gear and would say that if you are packing a lot of gear having a few extra gears is a good thing... especially if it has been a while since you did this.

A few years ago I was riding at a 16,000 km a year pace which was an average of 60km a day and I rode a great deal more through the spring, summer, and fall while my winter riding was pretty much limited to my commute which was 30km a day.

Ride this much and getting on the fg for 100 km or 160km is not nearly as big a deal and more than half of my riding was done on a fg during this time.

Now my health forces me to ride with a few more gears and my fg time is more limited but in a good day I could go out and knock down a small c or a big C.

This was me last year when I riding plenty and then got sucked into racing. I remember several 100km rides fixed that were no problem.

I have since taken it pretty easy with mostly commuting (16miles a day + where ever else I go) and 30 mile rides thrown in there a couple day a week. This summer has been even slower. I don't doubt my ability to do the ride, I'm just not used to the saddle time. The others in the group are estimating 8 or 10 hours each way.

Today I moved into my new apartment. It's really nice...except I lost a track nut in the process.

Just fooling around. Maybe this weekend I can get a couple of them in...

Argh my wife pulled me out of bed at 7am today to go pick up $100 hp touchpads.... drove half awake to fry's and ended up getting the last 32gb one and 2 16gb ones. Riding begins now.

Today while getting in the car to do a dry land (outdoors) practice for swimming it started raining. Hard. So we improvised and practiced in the gym. We stretched first, then pushups and circuit training. We had one group doing laps around the gym while one group did circuit training in 30 second intervals.

Sold my only SS/FG today... am I still welcome here? :(

I want to get a fixie in the future to use as my commuter, but I want it to be handmade by a small US company. Any ideas?

Today I got a road ride in then got a 2 hour session in at the pumptrack.

... got more work done on my tattoo, only ~4 hours left until it's done! (after 6ish so far)

Today I went on a ride with my buddy who just moved into my apartment complex. We got a few miles in and start riding residential streets just to see random parts of town. We hit a street that is a dead end (but not posted as one) and see a trail at the end and get stoked. Well, the last house on the street has an unleashed german sheperd chilling on the front lawn and he gives chase. We start sprinting to the trail only to find out it ends about 1/4 mile away, and I get a flat trying to sprint through the gravel. Dog gives up, we catch our breath and start heading back, not knowing whats gonna happen. We see a dark blip slowly getting bigger. The dog is coming down the trail. ****. We take off through a field of pricker bushes, I fall facefirst into an anthill, and we armed ourselves with the biggest sticks we could find. The dog gets to us and grabs the stick out of my buddy's hand. He wanted to play fetch. If I'd had a full stomach I probably would've shat myself haha. Off to work!

Knocked down the 4th one today. Started putting together a lil roadie related somethin somethin right now. :lol:

Today I:

Did my first Metric Century... Not bad at all fixed, and no hill got me... We did end up going down a few too many dead ends, with an exciting illegal bridge crossing in for kicks... I also bombed down a hill and went the fastest I have ever gone, somewhere around 35-40mph (46/17 on 700x23c) which was a bit hectic with cars right behind me... but all in all it was a great ride! Got back from a ~70 mile bike ride today. It was amazingly fun and I had a blast riding it fixed. Only a few big climbs but I was able to get through them.

All went well until the return trip home. This happened to my friends rear hub:

We were able to make it back OK with a very slow pace. I really didn't want her to ride on this, but she didn't want to wait around to get picked up. LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY GIRL

Of the 6 riders I was one of two that didn't take a ride in the sag wagon. I fealt great the whole ride. We finished with a climb and I feel wrecked. We had lots of beer and food. I am not sure I will be able to ride again, maybe just bomb some of the hills

Got a good deal on a saddle at a swap meet.
