I also do not like bullhorns.
|
Today I also received my brakes and front derailleur in the mail!

Calv, you gotta come out here and rage/ride with us. I have a pull out couch with your name on it, as long as you aren't allergic to cats. Dude, I hate to admit it, but that's EXACTLY what I'm allergic too LOL. Kind sucks because a lot of people seem to be cat people around here! Ah well. That's what medications for lol. |

I won't ever go back to horns. If you use brakes, your choices are bar ends and/or cross levers (both of which I don't care for). The extra reach from a bullhorn usually means you need a short stem which can affect your handling... I use to LOVE bullhorns, but now I realize they just suck.
|
I'm also not really a fan of the 'horns.

I can understand that. I like them because the ends give great leverage for climbing; if where I ride wasn't so hilly I would stick to compact drops or risers.
I like my horns. I find them comfy and I like the different hand positions. Plus they look *****in'. |
I usually ride in the 'burbs (5-10 west of Downtown). I will occasionally ride out to Forest Park for some circuit work.
|
today I went clipless.
|
any opinion so far? I have a coworker trying to convince me that my straps are so dangerous. Guess he's had many accidents.

I think it's more like converting everyone to compact drops. I'm a convert and a happy one.
Now: compact drops 5 minutes ago: bullhorns Out: Risers (but they are still awesome) |
Today has been an awesome day. My Rush came today, I went to my LBS and bought a bottom bracket, and a fine sqrl sup'd me about my 29er. Boom. I took the liberty of weighing the bare frame while I was at the LBS and it's 1900 grams. Pretty good for a 57cm steel frame and definitely lighter than my Traveler.

Nice! Paint looks less like pea soup in your pics.
|
it's the camera/lighting's fault. It's not as yellow irl
|
That's so awesome dude!

nice...
did you get it from that cycle club place that's showing the green rushes online for really low? it is tempting... there was some posting here a while back about new models vs older closeouts...do you know anything about that & which is yours? good luck & have fun... |
Thanks everyone! I'm pretty excited for this build. If my fork from Retrogression comes in tomorrow I should be riding it in no time. I set it on my spinergy and AC/Alex and it actually looked a lot better than I'd anticipated. I'm still torn between form and function as far as the wheelset is concerned. I think it would look better on an all silver box section wheelset but I can't find any that are lighter than my current combo (1800g set)
@mark - Cycle Club didn't have my size :( I got mine direct from Somafab. I just found out my LBS is a Soma distributor today or else I would've ordered it from them. |
turn off yo flash!

Today I am sick. I knew my throat was bothering me yesterday but I went out and partied and karaoked with jimmytango anyway. Now I am wrecked. Fever, chills, the whole nine yards. I *just* registered for Sunday's CX race too, but unless I make a miraculous recovery that's a reg fee down the drain.
|
I just bought Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. BoOOOO YEAH.
Social life, good bye. |

Today after yesterday's front brake fiasco, I modified the fork to take a modern road caliper. Ultegra road brakes are A LOT more powerful than Dia compe Gran Comps.
|
Today I woke up alive and was soooooo happy!

Why did you think you were dead?

Today I made a completely homemade chicken pot pie and between lunch and dinner, ate the whole damn thing myself.
