usps always just leaves the box in my screen door whether im home or not, so i make sure im checking the tracking status and home all day that day for expensive stuff

Re: the whole slow shipping thing...

I'd be more at ease if it were an actual vendor. Even if it takes a legitimate vendor some time to ship my stuff, at least there's a feeling that my investment is safe.

In this case, I'm dealing with a private seller. Yes, people are busy. I am busy. I know it takes time. It still generates extra anxiety as there's always the risk of someone just running off with the cash and never delivering the goods.

Can't you request that they not do that? I lost a package that way in L.A. before, I contacted my local post office and they instructed mail carriers to never leave them.

I think it depends on the type of service used, but around here they don't usually leave it. Also depends on the the delivery person as well.

I hate being trapped in that way, when you know a package is gonna be delivered so you have to stay home. UPS comes as late as 9pm around here.

Mumonkan 10-14-12 03:38 PM

i think its just usps, if its fedex/ups theres usually a note that they cant leave it without a signature, not sure if usps does that or not

i live with my dad too and hes home 99% of the time also so its not as bad as it sounds
if im staying home its just in anticipation so i can play with my new whatever it is ASAP

Scrodzilla 10-14-12 03:42 PM

Regardless of whether it's USPS, FedEx or UPS, drivers will leave packages unless they were sent requiring a signature.

RGNY 10-14-12 03:54 PM

telling RG how to do business is like telling your tailor to use velcro. you need to go somewhere else where you feel more comfortable.

first risotto of the season. wild mushrooms, made w/ a white rioja and my wife's incredible chicken broth.

43F and hard rain for my commute to church and spin around town afterward. once again, the right gear made the difference. Bar Mitts worked great.

also, i love the boo'tay, keeps me warm and dry:

The slow cooker I just bought is a piece of ****. Won't simmer. Glad I've got a dutch oven to work with.

Nagrom_ 10-14-12 07:59 PM

Going through all of my drawers/closet space clearing out everything that doesn't fit anymore. Hella L/XL/XXL shirts, and hella 36/38 pants.

Feels good man.

EDIT: I have so many ****ing pairs of socks. jesus. Also, bike parts everywhere man. WhyTF is there a crankset in my underwear drawer?

hairnet 10-14-12 08:32 PM

Today I:

Received a pair of 7 speed 105 DT shifters for free. A customer just offered them to me while I was looking over his bike

Going through the same thing. My wife found a chainwhip in a box of cds the other day, and most of my clothes no longer fit.

And then you hate your diet and take all that money from clothes and put it back into food. Vicious cycle.

Finally got my computer back... if I had not been running all over the country for the past two months it would have been a little sooner and damn but I missed the speed of this old box.

Wife's birthday party. Karaoke, whiskey, face-painting, madness...

misskaz 10-15-12 07:51 AM

Today is my last day in the office before my work+fun trip to New Orleans. So excited! Will miss my bike, and I'm missing some awesome stuff going on in Chicago, but it's nice to get away once in a while. Days 1-5 will suck because I'll be working 14-hour days, but then the last two days are all for me.

jimmytango 10-15-12 08:36 AM

I've never been to New Orleans, so I'm jealous. Have fun.

calv 10-15-12 01:57 PM

Dude, I'm eating some damn tamales right now. I feel so good. gooooooooooooooooood.

Scrodzilla 10-15-12 02:14 PM

Today (just now) a young dude with a huge afro riding an old Lemond got hit by a car right out in front of the shop. Before I could even get outside to see if he was alright he was on his feet, the driver was out of the car and they were screaming at each other. As I walked out the door, the driver made the mistake of shoving the dude while attempting to get back into his car and I watched in sheer amazement as he got his ass served to him on a silver platter. Afro dude was all fists, landing haymakers left and right. It was like watching a jailhouse beat down. So ****ing crazy.

He eventually made it back into his car and just drove off while the dude picked up his bike and walked around the corner. I called out to him, asking if he was alright and he just kept walking.
