Nice! A few friends of mine went to see them tonight. Sounded like a really good time.

What part of MI, and what beers?

And tonight I partied. Some of pleebs and mids from the Naval Academy were still in town, and they stopped by. Then a cop showed up right across the street for something completely unrelated to us, and scared about half of the people away. Still a pretty decent night in all.

I checked and rechecked that thing before sending it and it was just fine. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, just in case the item got damaged during transport, and told him I'd consider refunding him IF he sent it back for inspection.

He doesn't want to send it back. Just wants me to give him back the money based on some pictures he took. For all I know HE messed it up himself and now wants a free pass.

I catch people trying to pull this **** all the time at one of my jobs. So ****ing annoying. Maybe it's made me more sensitive and paranoid about it, but yeah... I'm not buying it.

It's easy:

Always. insure. packages.

Niles. A bunch of stuff from Short's and Dark Horse, with a few from Four Horsemen. Mostly stouts and porters.

Today I contemplate the logistics of purchasing and storing a half cow for consumption.

I hate this period when the days start later, but the clocks haven't moved back yet.

im sick of starting rides in the dark. i do it 2-3x/week these days.

now that i think about it, it's really just getting out of bed thats the hard part, especially when its dark. once im out on the road its kinda cool

Today I found out that, after a week of having paid for it, it hasn't even been shipped.

Mother****

doncha hate when that happens?

about a month ago i ordered from & immediately paid a vendor that is well-thought of here. then 10 days or so passed & stuff i bought at the same time from suppliers in the uk showed up & my domestic order didn't. when i inquired about it, the slow-shipping vendor got pissy over the fact that i had the nerve to question where my order was. turns out it was not shipped yet & it finally went out the next day...

Scrodzilla 10-14-12 10:48 AM

Boo ****ing hoo.

On the contrary, I know Angie sent you a rather polite e-mail apologizing for the delay, which you ignored and sent the following rude e-mail:

Next time, shop at those places instead and see if they'll take the time to answer a string of PMs, e-mails and calculate spoke lengths for you. Aside from that, you're a jerk to me on this forum every chance you get and nobody else here complains about slow shipping.

That really doesn't seem rude at all, unless horrible grammar and poor sentence structure are considered rude. That is not, however, how I would choose to interact with vendors, or anyone really.

Also, a little understanding is sometimes necessary. Shipping not sent out promptly by a reputable vendor is forgivable, particularly if it is a rare occurrence and especially when dealing with small independent retailers.

I believe I've placed three orders with Retrogression and all have been shipped promptly, slow shipping in a specific instance is obviously the exception and not the rule.

Nagrom_ 10-14-12 12:28 PM

I found it pretty rude, but that may just be me.

I think I've placed 3 or 4 orders with RG, all of which went out ASAP. Except for one, but that's because the spokes I ordered had to be cut and rolled, which led to a delay. It also happened on a day where scrod was taking a mini vacation and going out of town on that weekend, actually made a special trip to the shop friday morning before he left to check if my spokes came in from his vendor, so he could get them in the mail before the weekend. Pretty sweet, if you ask me.

There's no need to be a dick, particularly when it comes to business.

It was rude and markaitch has no tact.

Go to a reputable restaurant and ask why they can't be more like the restaurant across town. Better yet, tell your current significant other she should be more like girls you've dated in the past because they've always been just a little bit better in bed. Then, be sure post about her negative reaction on the internet - calling her a ***** for not understanding.

fixed.

striknein 10-14-12 12:52 PM

Slow shipping is sometimes part of the game when you deal with small businesses. It's made up for in other ways, particularly the personalized service and (especially in RG's case), the absolute rock-bottom prices on goods, shipping, and services. Also, I've had very long shipping times from shops like Universalcycles, JensonUSA, and Nashbar, all of whom have much larger operations.

It's not like we're talking about organ transport. Life doesn't end because you don't get a set of chainring bolts within a week.

Oh, and I'm buying a new slow cooker today. I accidentally marinated a pot roast at room temp for 2 hours yesterday when my old one gave up the ghost.

Leukybear 10-14-12 12:57 PM

FWIW I've never considered RG slow considering it usually takes a business day for processing and usually 2 more (including saturdays) for USPS to get it to me with special orders taking just a few days more only because of the supplier... The only faster service I've experienced is amazon prime and that's with 2 day shipping and a private army of warehouse people. Bigger stores are worse when they really put a nail in the coffin w/ UPS/ Fedex GROUND/ BASIC which can stretch out to 8 days if your delivery falls on a weekend.

Yeah that was my problem today, i just wasnt expecting it.
is usually go out before the sun and come home after the sun.
i think its the fact that it just seems like i took a nap, im used to waking up with sun shining on my face

In conclusion: no me gusta

Today I piddled with a 1070's lightweight/townie bike, disassembling for a refurbish/ratting out,but otherwise was just uber lazy with the wife :thumb:

MAGAIVER 10-14-12 01:08 PM

117km of singlespeed Mountain Biking.
There's an early group on a nearby town, people from all over country go there to experience it. The ride's 50km long with 3 very long climbs, 1 very steep climb right after crossing a river lots of dust and loose rocks, it's a very dry place. I went there with some friend's and there some trails and unpaved country roads that leads to that place, it's a 30km ride to get there and then I did an extra 7km on the way back trying different trails.
I had never ridden that long off road, it's one hell of a lot harder then riding on the road. Went to bed at 12PM woke up at 4AM to get ready for the ride, left at 5AM and got back home around 3PM. I feel completely destroyed but that was the most enjoyable and well organized ride ever. There were 480 mountain bikers there, and only one single speed rider

xavier853 10-14-12 01:11 PM

Just did a super windy 30 miles with a few good climbs. Feels good bro

The reason I like USPS is because if no one's home, you can go pick up the package the next day at your convenience. And the post office generally isn't too far.

If UPS/Fedex tries to deliver, depending on the shipping option, you might have to go pick it up at one of their facilities, which is not gonna be a stone's throw away from you.

And RG generally has some of the best service I've ever experienced. I don't think most of us buy from them solely because of Scrod's presence here. A lot of their prices are also tough to beat.
