RGNY 11-25-12 09:26 AM

today i figured out why i passed out and hit the deck last night.

dehydrated. got back from a long snow ride requiring more effort than normal and only drank my normal amount of water.

total amateur hour. haven't done that since cutting weight for judo in high school. so dumb.

Mumonkan 11-25-12 09:57 AM

Today i got to work 2.5 hrs late cuz i forgot to take my phone off silent for the alarm

amateur hour x2

I just got kicked out of Target for trackstanding (with both hands. I didn't want to break the bike) and skidding one of their $129 fixed gears in the store. I kinda want one just to beat the hell out of it. So heavy.

Big Wheel races will get you kicked out of Toys R Us, as well...

Sixty Fiver 11-25-12 10:53 AM

Today I am going to convert my extrabike to all wheel drive.

True, there's a tub.

IthaDan, that is fantastic. I did not get any caulk in my mouth, although I agree that it does smell. My caulk is white.

I'm scared of this happening. My adoptive father and I don't get along at all, and I've never met my biological father. I know who he is, and I have his address, but I'm scared. What if he doesn't know about me? What if he does and wants nothing to do with me? I'm glad that you got to meet him, and that he was a good guy. Sorry about your loss .

My parents divorced when I was very young and I have very few childhood memories of my father, my grandfather was a very honorable man and took the place of his son in my life and I promised him that I would go and see my father, who was a decent guy in most respects.

You should take that step... I figure that if I had not done this I would carry that regret for the rest of my life and would know I failed my grandfather.

For the short time we had together, my father and I got along really well and his wife and our common friends said they had never seen him so happy... he carried this great burden of guilt for nearly 30 years and was actually looking at contacting my older sister and younger brother who were not as amenable to seeing or talking to him but think it would have been very healthy.

So awesome. I bet the feeling you got from this was worth so much more than the cost of the bike.

Hope his parents get a ******* clue and don't sell this one...

My mother dropped me off on my grandmother's doorstep while my father was in Vietnam. I was 2-3 then and I remember her being in and out of my life until I was five and my father remarried the beast. I'm 39 now and haven't said a word to her in any manner since the last court-ordered visitation on my fifth birthday. I can't say that I'm as honorable as you are Sixty Fiver, because honestly, I'd be at a loss for words as to what to say to her now.

Dan, that's pretty charitable of you. My oldest boy sold his BMX to a friend who was in need of a bike when he got his first real mountain bike, I'm sure he can relate to the feeling.

Today I finally released my wee little album.

Today I visited Portland's newest bike shop and will be going back often. It's my kinda shop - lotsa bins of used stuff! It's close to Vancouver! Dude builds his own frames and some kickass custom tubular CrMo racks!

Today I found out I can smell pho from 5 blocks away. I was at a light and smelled the pho and started freaking out cuz I couldn't see the pho. Back in days of yore I'd smell fried chix or something and go nuts and set off on a spiral search pattern 'til I found the joint, now that I live in the future I just have to press two buttons on my phone, say "pho" then follow the blue line on the map.

Dannihilator 11-25-12 07:17 PM

Today I had a relaxing 20 miles.

That guy is a recent UBI "grad". cool

LesterOfPuppets 11-25-12 09:21 PM

Here's one of his front racks. What you can't really see in the pic is the mount for a Son light and 3 power cable guides running down one strut. Pretty sweet rack, but $$$

Yeah, I'm specifically craving pho too.

Most people cannot appreciate how much work goes into building a rack and the current material costs... the custom rear rack I am building for my Pug (and anyone else who wants one) uses 3/8 aircraft grade chromoly tubing for all the mains and this costs $5.00 a foot and there is going to be about 12 - 14 feet of tubing in a single rack. The smaller cross members are even more costly and then there are all the other fittings.

And then there is the time, skill, and overhead costs one has to factor in.

Lane at Cetma builds a great product and probably has some of the best prices out there... and was unusually affordable for Portland.

I predict at least $800.

GET TEH SILVER ONE. I love that colorway.

Today I started browsing bikeforums because I have nothing better to do at the moment. God help me.

I'm now looking for all the entertaining threads that involve evilcryalotmore etc.

EDIT :

Today I caught up on posts in the "The-New-New-Post-Your-SS-FG-Photos" thread.

Am currently laughing my ass off about evilcryalotmore's chili fries with un-melted cheese.
