Drop Bar MTB and FGMTB are on my want to make list. (two separate projects)

This bike has a huge head tube. I feel it will be slow, but still a good all-arounder - capable tourer if I get around to it.
http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/u.../photo-139.jpg big bike, even smaller wheels. |
the proportions of that thing makes me think of jdgesus' folder
could fit like 15 bottle cages on there |
It looks a little less dumb since I raised to be higher than the bar
|
let teh derailleurs hit the floor, let the derailleurs hit the floor
|
Looks like a mini-velo.
|
Reminds me of this old guy

Today I put in 70 miles.
|
Today I put in a very leisurely 10 miles with the sqrl. Took some pics of the roadie with the new camera (posted appropriately). Wrapped the sqrl's bars with brooks that finally arrived, after wrestling off whatever the **** was already on there.
Good day. |
|
the LBS called me right before closing and told me my stuff was in: SKS Longboard fenders installed with much swearing. great once they're on, but grrrr......better rain tomorrow. Cygolite Metro 300 currently charging.
may have to throw a half link in my chain, or just get a new chain. with 32's the fender clearance is a little tight at the chainstay bridge. good thing i didn't slam the wheel. hung out at the tattoo shop with a couple girls i know. they start trash talking and one yells at the other "you can't say -vagina- to Rob (me), he's married!". huh? :) |
today i:
drunk. work in 4 hours goodnight. |

Today I am feeling kind of ostracized. I've lost some friends recently, and I don't like it.
In lighter news, I may be grabbing this soon: http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=277068 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=277069 1959-1960 Boisis Special, handbuilt in France, 61cm. Has original Stronglight BB and headset, and stock bars & stem. How can I afford it? The district manager is talking to me about promoting me to operations manager of the store, which would give me a significant boost in wages. Awesome. |
Don't do it. The bike I mean.

You're always talking about money troubles - get enough money together to straighten your **** out before spending it on more stuff you don't really need. |
Ignoring that, you'd spend at least a grand on ebay sorting out parts that will even fit. That number would triple if you're looking to do a period-correct restoration. I went through it on my Peugeot UO-8, built it from the ground up out of parts I cobbled together, and in the end I had a bike that was absolute trash. I donated it to the co-op because I couldn't even make it work as a townie. If you want a vintage roadie, buy a complete, or at least buy something that adheres to modern industry standards. You'll end up with a much better product.

Today I am recovering from an AMAZING Tiny Fix race and after party. Everything went so well. We had 31 racers despite the cold and the fairly high race fee ($10 vs the typical $5). Had a huge range of racers, from first timers to out of towners to your typical messenger dudes. A bunch of people really got into the theme and wore scouting uniforms/costumes even though we didn't even ask people to do that! I am still on cloud nine. So proud of myself and my girls for pulling it off. People are already asking when our next race is. When we said spring, they were like, "no way! do a winter race!" :D :D :D :D

Less partytime = WAY more money in pocket, I've found.
|
Today I flipped the flop, so to speak, on the Fuji. SS freewheel on a 6 speed wheel
feels weird, man |
Today I took some pics of the kilo.
|
cicLAvia for 3 hours. Free snacks, "volcano/lava water", raffle ticket and a t-shirt.
Can't wait til the next one. |
I wish I could have gone. Instead I sit here in this not so busy bike shop
|
Today I hammered out 42 miles.
|
I've got 31 miles in so far. Now drinking beers and approx 15 miles from home....
I think I'll stop my Strava and see if I got a certain KOM back. |
Just got hit on the kilo. Guy cut me off merging into the right most lane, clipped my front wheel. No helmet, luckily put me in the bushes and not into the tarmac. Hit and Run, only car around. He'll get his. Couple scratches, nothing bad.
Front wheel is out of true, cant tell if bent or not, I'll throw it on the truing stand in a sec. Fork didn't bend. Bartape got scuffed up. Should be alright. sigh. I hate people. |
Last night I partied. And then when we went to get hotdogs at 3 am, I had to keep one of my friends from getting into a fight. My friend is 6' 3", a bit over 200 lbs, and the guy trying to start a fight was like 5'8". Drunken idiot. Then Napoleon followed us home, and heckled us. Funny part is that he whipped off his jacket when he first wanted to fight, and then he followed us about a half mile to the house. Hope that was his favorite jacket, and that its lost forever.
Today I woke up at 1, went and played some football, and then made a box of velveeta for dinner. Homework and everything is already done, so I get the rest of the night to sit around and do nothing. Stoked. |
