Why don't you just slide your saddle forward a little?

What do you mean "what"? Slide your seat forward. You still have quite a bit of room on the rails here:

You know, since your seatpost has too much setback, move your saddle forward a bit to counteract the extra reach?

Sorry, just being a smartass Moving the saddle forward was the first thing I did. The post has 30.2mm of setback and I have my seat as far forward as you can go and still be in the hash marks. I assume those are there to say you shouldn't put your seat as far forward as physically possible. Is it reasonable/okay to have it clamping on right at the crook of the rail?

Grand Cru.

@scrod. The pic you quoted is from when I had just put the seat on and hadn't adjusted anything yet. Right now it's almost all the way forward (I can move it up 6mm before bottoming out) and it still doesn't feel right.

It's not "uncalled for", the Grand Cru was designed to be used with Brooks saddles which have short rails.

Today I put a new chain on the roadbike. First time on the roadie since I stole the chain from it to put on a chainless Salvation Army MTB.

Roadbikes = really fast after about a month of nothing but MTBs.

Ahh yes, those Grand Cru posts are kinda special. I like to be close to my BB, so I usually run zero setback post. I had a fairly standard 2.3 cm setback when I ran my olde Ideale saddle.

one thing that is true, and no denying by anyone else in the USA: seattle drivers are ****IGN MORANS

y'all might have worse or more mean drivers... but the shear stupidity of the general seattle area public when they get into cars is something that needs to be studied at a university level.

edit: i'm really really bad driver, case in point

Yesterday some guy paced me in the oncoming traffic lane in his effort to overtake me with his car. Then we reached the stop sign, he was still in the wrong lane. I looked at him in confusion and he "sped" off. perdy stoopid

yeah and I normally wouldn't bother returning something that was $6 anyway, but they pay for return shipping on any returns so I figured, eh why not. extra bonus

Today I tossed the idea of moving to San Francisco around in my head. I'd probably sell my car if I did.

You could always toss the idea of moving around to somewhere right near SF, like Oakland, Alameda, Berkeley, etc. It's expensive to move into the city maaang.

I was watching some bike doc/video thing where it said even the groups of messengers who lived there commuted into the city together in the morning because of how expensive it was to actually live 'in' the city.

Yeah, if I moved somewhere near the city, I'd prefer that it be near caltrain or something. I would hate to drive to work every morning.
