All the same bull**** when i have a Surly track hub. Although with mine the shoulder would work itself inward and bind the bearings and wreck them. I changed the bearings twice before taking the wheel apart and buying a IRO hub

My surly has been fine for at least 3 years... and I don't even like surly :/

Today I mowed my lawn myself for the first time in over 25 years. I had been paying a lawn service to do it, but now that I'm retired I've got plenty of free time to do home maintenance chores. I bought a basic 21" cut gas push mower from my local Lowes, and it was totally easy to set up and mow the lawn. I find it hilarious that my neighbor who is half my age and who's lawn is the same size as mine and completely flat has an expensive rider mower.

Hah. I have the exact same (Le Creuset?) pot, and mine is currently on its way to creating Beef Carbonnade. Not ready for the picture taking stage just yet. We're going to a soup party at a friend's house tonight - everyone brings soup or stew or bread or whatever. Second year running, and it's always a good time in mid-January.

TT, what acreage is your neighbor's lawn? I would never have a riding mower for anything less than six acres, and there would have to be serious hills involved (although I am twenty years old). I have hired myself out for lawn mowing service, and it is crazy what people are willing to pay a professional. One of my friend's parents has a lawn care business, and he doesn't drop a blade for less than $50.

Today, I had lunch with my 60 year old host mother and her friends. I am jealous of all of y'all who have snow. It's like 85 degrees here and HUMID. Worst part is, I had to wear long pants and a dress shirt, with a belt. Not the appropriate attire for the climate.

...cried when I woke up and realized that yes, my custom-built Devil is sitting in my bedroom, sans the fyxation tires that I ordered (that are sitting in an airport in Colorado) at the same time as the other items I got from UC. They won't be here until Tuesday which means my amazingly gorgeous ride is just sitting there, staring at me.

So I rode the M80 and tested out my new pedals on her. Stick like glue. Got chased for about 50 yards by border patrol before they realized that I was on the U.S. side of the fence.

I just uninstalled a square tapered bracket bb, and replaced it with a gxp bb. First time I have messed with a bb. thank god for that park tools website.

Our lawns are both tiny, about a 1/4 acre each total in both front and back of the houses. It's absurd that he's got a riding mower, although it's a rather small one. Most of the neighbors use a lawn service, but the only ones doing their own that have rider mowers are really elderly or have steeply sloped yards. The rest have mostly self-propelled walk behind mowers. I'm doing strictly mulching with mine, although it does include attachments for rear bagging and side discharge, which I'll likely never use.

I was getting that feeling too when I first started using my rollers. I think it was because I was reluctant to shift my weight around on the seat because my balance wasn't great. Since I've gotten comfortable shifting my weight around, no more problemos.

No way I'd push mower a 6 acre spread. If I had that much land I don't even think I'd mow that much of it. Half acre is plenty of grass for me.

Got a new (used) Korg Pitchblack today but it won't tune my bass! Ruh roh!

I can't figure out if there is something wrong with my bass or if there is something wrong with the tuner.

Not knockin' it, because it is quite a tasty beverage. I was simply saying it was more expensive than the original (which in my opinion is still expensive). And as for "grownup" I think am more mature than the majority of the people my age,(EDIT: by the way, I pay for every thing I have, which is more than many people my age can say, and I pay for it through hard work) and I happen to be on a tight budget, which coincidentally causes me to be more price conscious than those who are more financially stable. EDIT cont: Be careful when passing judgement on the Internet. I was offended when I read what you wrote, but I will not let it get under my skin. EDIT Cont.II. I guess I did let it get under my skin by posting the new edits. The way you phrased your reply really irritated me. All my life, people have asked me "why don't you (do/say/upgrade) this/that?" The only answer I can give is that, when you have to factor in not only real but also opportunity cost, in relation to how many hours worked, it gives one a different perspective on the value of money. I hope you were born to a more well-off family so you do not have to factor these things (for lack of a better word) into your life. but for those of us who do, try not to label frugal peopel as "juvenile" which is what you inadvertently did by referring to yourself as a "grownup.'

And to Lester of Puppets, I was hired out to mow that much acreage for $10 an hour. A steal for the homeowner and money in the bank (eventually the University) for me. I certainly did not enjoy the experience!

biking to Galveston tomorrow, can't decide if I should take the Cinelli or play it a bit safer with the Leader townie. I've never ridden over the causeway going into the island, so I'm not sure how steep it is going down.

I thought the causeway wasn't rideable, at least not in Corpus or down here on SPI.
