Today I rode for 2 hours and averaged 101RPM over the entire ride burning just over 1,800 calories.

Dannihilator 01-22-12 08:07 PM

Nice. All I know it's going to be in the 50's tomorrow, but raining. Fair trade I guess. I will be putting some major miles in tomorrow.

Nagrom_ 01-22-12 08:15 PM

today i got my chain in the mail... which would make my bike ridable, but i dont want to put it on until i get my crankset in the mail....

meh.

Today,

I am currently studying for my music history exam tomorrow.

I cleaned my bike, which was full of salt and nasty stuff. I discovered while cleaning that the toe bend on one of my toe clips has snapped in two. Also, my chains masterlink is bent and almost falls off. My front tires is almost completely gone. The sidewalls are starting to degrade. And the rear is almost completely skidded through. Good things to have noticed sooner than later.

But to be fair, the front tire is from 2008 and i probs skid too much lollzz

nuhtowel 01-22-12 08:28 PM

I feel your pain, well my bike does. I usually do zero maintenance until spring time, besides keeping the tires full... my poor bike

Holy ****. When did you start class this semester? I'm about to start my second week, and an exam right now would be ludicrous unless it was over pre-reqs.

On the 2nd. We are coming up on the middle of the quarter.

nuhtowel 01-22-12 08:40 PM

That sucks.. I can't even imagine having quarters, do you have like 6 hours of each class a week?

You only noticed these things when cleaning your bike? Chain masterlink is understandable, but the toe clip and tires should be easy catches.

Finally hit up the L.A. bike path, from Fletcher to up north. Absolute blast, I didn't know what to expect but it was 6 miles of pure bliss. Just a clear bike path with only a few slow areas. Riding continuously is so much better than stop and go.

I did about an hour of homework today. Motivating myself at the beginning of the semester is always so difficult...

LA river path is pretty good. I think it is the only one you can actually hustle on. Every other path is full of walkers, recumbents, and beach cruisers

Nagrom_ 01-22-12 09:43 PM

Kyle Williams...... <__<

that is all.

No kidding. It was Sunday so maybe that's why it wasn't so crowded today. There were still a couple of walkers and razor scooters though.

Can't blame Williams for the loss, although he did screw up big time. Not his fault Ginn Jr. got hurt and he had to fill in, but definitely screwed up. But SF still had chances to do something. Come on, it was a home game. I thought once NY punted in OT that SF was going to win it. Nope.

today i climbed for the first time. and had to make my bike so ugly for it =<

yummygooey 01-22-12 11:44 PM

Why'd you have to make it ugly?

Thanks!

I've had 4 personal best average speeds in a row on my training route. Losing weight is helping a lot.

just curious, what was your average speed? at 101rpm, must have been bookin' it... or just spinning...

Very low gearing. Under 20mph. This particular workout is all about cadence and developing efficiency at high cadences, which is crucial for track racing.

Strength and power workouts are separate. It all comes together with high-speed work later in the training calendar. Strength + High Cadence = Power = High Speed.

hairnet 01-23-12 02:10 AM

1800 calories over 2 hours by spinning under 20mph? This is measured by a power meter?
