Suppage was returned. We ended up talking for a few minutes as we reached our stop and got off and walked out. She takes a different morning train that I'm going to try to catch, lol.

yeah dude, you can ride her morning bus AFTER you guys are in a long term committed relationship. don't change your whole routine just to gawk at her more. it's not something sqrrls find attractive.

just ask her out/get her number. if she's into it cool. if not, stop oggling.

now all you gotta do is take off the wheel stickers and wrap the bars with black lizard skins.

It's the one I aim to make in the morning, but always miss, I even typically miss the one after that. Hahaha, I'm awesome in the morning.

Yup. If she likes you she'll give you her number. it's pretty much that simple, unless she's a headcase. i'd say 9/10 girls give their real number to guys they're really serious about going out with.
she's not going to make you do anything ridiculous for it if that's the case... she's not waiting for you to show her your five thousand square foot condo or your background check and proof of monthly earnings. it's not a job interview is another human individual.

sure, the whole "hey take my phone and type your number in" is not the first thing you say, but it's the first thing you do that shows them you actually plan on interacting with her on a more than casual "oh hey it's you on the bus again" basis. it very easily shows that you a) are interested in her in some capacity and b) are someone who thinks ahead.

all the more reason to NOT see her in the morning. If you're a bumbling can-barely-accomplish-pouring-milk-in-your-cereal-bowl type of morning person like I am, you do not want to fall asleep while she's typing her number into your phone.

also, you don't want to revert to the "say something witty and try to make jokes and compliment her so she'll laugh and smile at me before i ask her out to this specific movie and dinner place that is either a yes or no answer" because your'e too tired. you can revert to that because you're nervous, fine, that's only human... but play to your strengths! if mornings aren't your time to shine, why go out of your way to meet her then?

plus there's nothing that will set off her 'creeper' alarms more than you showing up on EVERY bus she rides.

perfect. get her number first, ask her what she's doing, ask her what she's doing after her plans, and see if she wants to get together sometime before her plans or after. that way she can choose what she wants to do.
(deleted bad advice)

or you could just tell her to put her shoe on her head, that probably works just as well.

Charlie, that is possibly the best advice I've ever seen on this forum, and I have only one thing to add:

Jay, be yourself. If she doesn't like you for who you are, she's not worth your time. It's far better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you're not.

^ that. always.

I totally agree. if you want to know why i agree, read on:

i don't care if you're a man or woman young or old gay straight republican democrat Nike Adidas Reebok black or white or purple or orange... integrity honesty and confidence are sexy. Being yourself is sexy! anything else you'd try to put on top of that will just get in the way of any real attraction that's there. so don't worry about it, don't change the bus you're on... you're awesome and you deserve someone who can just be real with you!

you're cool in tons of ways and she's probably already aware of that fact... so you don't have to prove it to her or anyone else. just be happy and be yourself, and make the opportunity for her to make a connection!

and if not then that's cool too, because it's not like we know for a fact that she's considered dating you. all that's happened is a nice friendly conversation and some noticing from down the bus. maybe a smile. or maybe your eyes met a couple times. doesn't necessarily mean you should be stressing over it... you should value your time more than that because you ARE a cool individual with lots of qualities worth sharing. So, all the more reason to just casually ask for her number whenever you have had that first bit of compatible conversation. it's not a big deal either way because if she's ready for someone with your qualities, she'll be glad you asked ... making a huge deal out of it is only going to contribute to being nervous. it's not a huge deal, girls give guys numbers all the time and it's only natural to want to connect with people.

as long as you aren't like "hey give me your number so i can text you and you can send me tons of nude photos." that might be a bit much.

Jimmy is the man. Being yourself is like "meeting people 101." and if you're excited before having even gotten her number, that's totally the right advice.

whipped out the 722 for a short ride today. thinking of keeping that high stem going because it was really comfortable. ride felt really great, reminded me a lot of my Soma. Brooks needs some serious time as it's the only part of the ride I wasn't thrilled out (brand new, to be expected) but the ride felt silky smooth on 28s

Too much! I think like $1300 or thereabouts, and a lot of parts are recycled/jacked from the TET.

Jimmy and Charlie, thanks for the input! You guys are awesome.

Also, Charlie, when's the next time you'll be in the bay area?

Today (last night) I put some parts on the 722ts. I REALLY don't like the look of the Deda stem I have on there :\ I think it may have too much white (thatsracist.gif) and might be a bit too square.

... they are only $25. So, what..you end up saving $5 by going with something else? Go for the lizard skins, and if you don't then X-Mas/Hanukkah is right around the corner!

Planet Bike fake cork tape at the co-op is only $10 and it serves me well. Lizard Skins next time, maybe. I think money right now is getting diverted to SPD-SL/winter bike clothes.
