What he didn't mention was that he stole the bike in the first place.

I was just wondering how he paid such a low amount, in relation to how much of a tax break he would get haha.

no, just gave me a receipt for a donation (in the form of the bike) of $1200. never even asked what i paid for it. i've heard similar stories from folks that itemize Salvation Army donations.

They're so boggy when compared to a everwear of the same size due to lower PSI ratings. I always over inflate randos but not to the extent that it would provide a ride with the amount of rolling resistance I would prefer as I've heard of them exploding when you do so.

Yesterday, in order to understand the movie, I read the Hunger Games. Started out at 10 PM, went till 1, and got in a solid 273 pages. Slept, woke at 6, and finished during some classes. Just under 12 hours. Pretty good book too!

excerpted from IRS Publication 561:

To figure how much you may deduct for property that you contribute, you must first determine its fair market value on the date of the contribution.
Fair market value (FMV) is the price that property would sell for on the open market. It is the price that would be agreed on between a willing buyer and a willing seller, with neither being required to act, and both having reasonable knowledge of the relevant facts. If you put a restriction on the use of property you donate, the FMV must reflect that restriction…

sure, lotsa folks cheat on taxes & you will get away with it too, but i am sorry to have to say that the fact that you, as an ex-cop & leo of some sort even now, do not hesitate to violate federal tax regs is very revealing...

Bikes: N+1

I was reminded why the **** I commute by bicycle. I just spent an hour sitting in traffic only to travel about five miles. I hate it when I have to drive during the day and it leaves me going home at the start of rush hour. Add that to the fact that I have not eaten today and you get a very agitated loud Mr. Hairnet. I'm glad I will now be working in a place with secure bike parking, lockers, showers, and an 18 mile round trip commute.

Now, therapy! Too bad it isn't the kind where you get to rant at a shrink. WHERES MAH BEIKSICKLE

Gotta love LA/ socal traffic. People buy nice fast cars down here but the traffic will render them slower than golf carts.

Every time I drive, I get so incredibly disgusted because everyone else around me is doing everything - talking on the phone, texting, reading magazines, looking for something in their glove compartments, eating, etc - except driving their ****ing cars. DRIVE YOUR ****ING CARS, PEOPLE.

i tend to be incredibly lazy when I am not working or riding... and I don't like commuting by bike unless I treat it in my mind as a workout.

sometimes i drive incredibly short distances, like across a big parking lot to go to another store.

it's kinda bad

I know, but I have not been terribly active the last couple months and it feel like my metabolism as come to a stand still. I literally have no problem going hours and hours without food. Last summer I would have gone insane because I just couldn't eat enough to satisfy my hunger. I need to stop riding in bike lanes and start sprinting between lights, get the metabolism rolling again.

I'm working at a shop in downtown Santa Monica that's contracted out by the city to provide safe parking, lockers, showers, service, and rental bikes for bike commuters.

This. Cars are like a second home to these people because they spend countless mindless hours in them.
