Man, you don't need to kill yourself. Just give it a week, and you'll be back to full health.

jdgesus 05-10-12 01:08 PM

TMonk 05-10-12 01:20 PM

about 15ppls (out of 27) are taking a 2hr lunch today to do some mtb'ing at mission hills trailz...
meanwhile I'm stuck here tending to the ICP-MS all day long. lame.

last week was fun. hopefully next week i wont be running sum process that takes all day

NateRod 05-10-12 01:54 PM

... was reminded, as I climbed a hill, of why I hate track drops.

Today I traveled from Bandung to Jakarta, to escort my friend picked up his new frameset from a local seller.

and the result...

http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...97784775_n.jpg

a few minor scratch at its trackend, seattube & fork. And also the forks are already drilled but that's fine considering my friend got it for only half-price.
as for myself, still waiting for my current frameset to be sold and thankfully, because of that, I lose the half-priced Bolt I told yesterday :(

Went for a ride with the bike group from my old (and current cousin's) high school. Hit 52+ with a rack and panniers-

Then I ate it when some kid skidded to a stop and fishtailed in front of me when I was in the back of a paceline. I'm too old to go down like that.

This week I started my new third shift job, and I've been commuting to and from by bike. We actually have some really nice trails that basically connect my house to work, only about 7 miles one way. The worst part is all the damn hills at 6:30 in the morning when my legs are all tired from working all night.

I don't know if you actually had interest in seeing these, but they released the free response questions. I guess it might look like you're doing work?

Scored some vintage Wagner cast iron... am presently seasoning it in the oven as someone thought it was supposed to be scrubbed until it was shiny.

Do it. IIRC, you don't use the horns much anyhow.

ARGH!!! People man, WHY?

Today, I was supposed to go to a meeting at work, but when it got cancelled, I decided to ride. I hit the Lakefront Path and got in around 40-45 miles, but didn't Strava because I forgot. Lame. About a half-mile from my house a chick ran a red light and almost nailed me. I briefly considered chasing her down, but decided against it. It wouldn't have ended well for either of us.

I haven't washed my cast iron pan in a year. Food tastes GOOOOD.

jimmytango 05-10-12 05:37 PM

We have some cast iron at my restaurant and my new dishwasher tried to run them through the dish-machine. He didn't realize I could freak out like that, haha.

striknein 05-10-12 05:45 PM

My wife won't even touch it. She's terrified of ****ing it up.

Nagrom_ 05-10-12 05:50 PM

smart woman.

You can wash it like almost any dish but avoid abrasives... this no washing with soap rule stems from the days when soap contained lye which is the best thing for stripping old cast iron.

I give mine a light scrub and a rinse as very little sticks to a well seasoned pan and then give it a light coat of vegetable oil to protect it.

The smaller #3 skillet is going to take a little more work to bring it back to what it is supposed to be... this is a great size for a single breakfast or making bannock so it will get a lot of use.

My wife's father is a serious collector of Griswold cast iron and she knows her stuff... she has a beautiful collection of cast iron pieces and there's a few finds I have yet to restore.

Griswold is the best cast iron you can find with Wagner being a pretty close second.

Leukybear 05-10-12 05:56 PM

Today, I came to realization that mint condition suntour superbe pro cranksets are nearly impossible to come by.... they're always beat to hell as my search on ebay and the pair I own.

+1

I'm lazy and I use PAM to coat mine; any spray on cooking oil works as well.

Probably pretty bad - I don't remember what I answered, so I guess I'll just have to wait till June.

Dannihilator 05-10-12 06:18 PM

Today I wound up having a decent go on the dmr, and tried ergon grips, which I absolutely hated.

My teacher for ap calc didnt prepare us at all for the test yesterday. Still kinda pissed at how much material that wasnt even touched in class.

nuhtowel 05-10-12 06:38 PM

Today I decided to ride my 3 speed cruiser, since I was bored and have nothing else to do (and no other bikes at my parents house). This is not a very bike friendly town, cars were getting really close to me (ignoring the 4 foot passing law in PA) and honking. Its really annoying, but I'm used to it I guess, thats just how the people are around here.

The funniest (sort of) thing was while I was riding past the little league baseball fields. A small boy, 8-9 years old, was so bewildered that there was a bicycle riding down the street, that he gazed at me and kept walking... into the street, and an SUV almost nailed him. Its saddening that a kid would be so bewildered at an adult on a bicycle that this could happen.

You would have thought I was riding on a unicorn.

RGNY 05-10-12 07:33 PM

^ oof, that's rough. but yeah, here a bike means you're either poor or lost your license. :/

lost the gamble tonight. 50% chance of rain and i didn't get soaked until the last 2mi from home. still better than not riding.
