i was always paranoid of riding in the rain till last week when every day was on and off rain and i really had the itch to ride, so i went anyway and did the longest continuous ride ive done to date
think ive gone 3 days with light rain back to back and its not nearly as bad as i thought, have yet to get caught in a serious downpour yet though

nuhtowel 05-10-12 08:11 PM

downpours=no fun. Regardless of your gear you get drenched pretty much

Dannihilator 05-10-12 08:15 PM

Though downpours do feel good on a hot day.

Jaytron 05-10-12 09:50 PM

I love riding in the rain

nuhtowel 05-10-12 10:01 PM

everytime i ride in downpours i'm going to class.. being drenched for work/class all day is no fun haha

Dannihilator 05-10-12 10:26 PM

No you don't, it will burn you out badly.

Though I did one of the most emotionally difficult things of my life today, it was overall a pretty good day. Hung out with a friend that I don't see nearly as often as I'd like, did some riding, ate two completely vegetarian meals, drank some killer local whisky, and watched movies with my wife. Good times.

GENESTARWIND 05-11-12 04:48 AM

Today I had an amazing ride home from work, I rode hard/fast and pushed myself. Plus it was a beautiful night with almost all the streets being empty.

Does no one here use rain gear? When I get to school in a downpour I'm not wet at all.

I don't, but that's because I haven't bought any yet. I plan to but don't care enough right now to do it.

Heading to bart this morning to go to school, a large group ride was getting off at San Leandro. Looked like a bunch of younger guys too. Younger meaning, not the usual group of dentists.

It is pretty rare that I do not carry my rain gear.

But dentists aren't supposed to ride their $5k+ bikes...

Today I'm going to ride 40 miles with my dog in her trailer (my man tows her, and I ride behind to keep an eye on her). She's done two 12 mile rides so far and she loves it, though she tends to get restless, so I'm going to take her on a long walk before the ride. Also she looks SO CUTE YOU GUYS! I'll post pics soon when I figure out how to work this new camera. Please, contain yourselves.

Today I'm bummed because it's so beautiful out, and I'm sitting here in a blasted sling.

I'm praying to the bike gods that this thing isn't actually broken.

Leukybear 05-11-12 12:01 PM

Well my mother's day plans are in place and ready to go. For you guys who forgot, it's this Sunday ;)

On a more dire note, somebody please convince me not to pay retail for a campy record pista crankset.

prooftheory 05-11-12 12:07 PM
