Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? I felt terrible (It's been a long week). I felt bad yesterday, felt bad today, felt like crap on the bike, and felt bad about it on the way home...like "why am I doing this?" bad.

...But I happened to actually turn in some great power numbers:

10" power - 2nd best ever
15" power - 2nd best ever
20" power - Best Ever!
The top speeds from several efforts were very close to my PB.

I think the new bike fit had a LOT to do with that. It's still not perfect. I needed a longer stem today. I put on a longer one when I got home. Hopefully next weekend will be better.

I'm glad I dragged myself out of bed!

Here's a pic:

Today I got caught up a bit on my BF reading as I have been very busy. I started a new job on Friday which kept me quite occupied. 10hr. shifts were actually a kinda welcome change from being a part time student. I think I'll be a good fit there, plus I'm able to bike to work now!
That being said... congrats, happy b-day, and hope you heal quickly, etc. from me to where it applies! Seems like I've missed quite a bit in just a couple days.

Nope, it's most likely an installation art piece. There's no tires.

I'm going to cheat and do a "Yesterday I..." because it's a lot more interesting than what's happening today..
I did my long SS ride to date, right around 25mi with a group of my buddies.. super fun! Did it in about 2 1/2 hrs with two small breaks to hydrate and stretch some.

Too bad my shoulders and the top of my hands are burnt.. damn you TX sun!!

Today I had my first successful evacuation since having double hernia surgery 3 days ago. Gawd, did that hurt!

We're actually both back home, bikes were left at Davis. I don't think I'd even wanna keep it, I feel like total shizzat. I just hope things work itself out.

I'm going to sleep, man. Thanks guys.

Actually awesome about the numbers and PB and such! Should be even better when you are fully feeling back to normal!

Bike looks sick like usual btw

Today I received my Swrve knickers in the mail and found that one leg is about 2" longer than the other. It's a good thing I know how to sew...
