Just bought a 12t cog. I'm ready.

Don't forget the special lockring so your chain doesn't ride up on your typical lockring ;)

It's bolt on. Micro in the back. Macro up front.

This new 60/9 ratio should be pretty cool. Brakeless, don't worry.

Today I watched the ToC whiz by in SF with Jandro and Dan. Will post this one because I think I see voigt in there :

Went to Rapha cycle club, ate tacos had some beer... Awesome day, had dinner as well.

On the way home, the wind blew a plastic bag into my drive-train. I didn't know it was there and kept pedaling. Next thing I know I hear some grinding and a crack, and I'm on the ground.

Plastic bags are deadly...

(btw, that was a plastic bag that used to contain a Giants sweater or jersey. There was a game that day, and one of the fans likely threw the bag out into the street. I hate game days even more now...)

MikeAmoke 05-15-12 01:19 AM

Wow that bag thing happened to me once on the street.
Luckily i was on a fixed track bike and noticed it right away. hahah that **** is not fun, i had to pull out my pocketknife to get all the bag out of my gear/cog and chain

That sucks hard.

Today I rode in some of the most absolutely perfect weather possible, had an ok night at work, got to see a good friend, and through a ****ty situation I realized that some people I consider friends are just **** talking jerks but for the most part I have some awesome people around me. I'm supposed to leave on a metric century in three hours, but I haven't been to sleep yet so that isn't happening. Tomorrow, 100+ miles (in theory).

Last night I realized that I'd raced 7 of 12 consecutive days. Not to mention 3 gym days and 1 track training day during that span as well. No wonder I'm tired.

Today I:

Got an email about a position I applied to many months ago asking if I was still interested. (I am!)

Bought a 3-day pass to Riot Fest Chicago.

Want to buy these Outlier women's pants but can't justify almost $200 for them.

Am sad because the weather is perfect but I've been taking the bus rather than riding to work because of fresh tattoo work that hurts a lot. I should HTFU.

No, but that sounds like something from epic meal time.

If it's the job I think it is, I'm super excited for you. This is seriously the first year I've ever been super excited about Riot Fest, but I know I'm going to have to work. I wanna go though... And yes, HTFU, SQRL.

Today I have a flat that I'm too lazy to change. Marriage counseling here I come.

Those wheels are awesome, worth every penny I paid. Unfortunately they're going to go well over $600 through considering there's been a drought of them on fleabay after the no reserve auction deadstock blow out of them [it was because of reynolds logo refresh] which many people, including me, got tubular & clincher sets on the cheap.

Sixty Fiver 05-15-12 02:40 PM

Friend picked me up at 10:30 this morning to take the touring bikes out for a shake down ride and we deemed it the "Tour de Maggot" since both of us are still pretty pasty from a long Canadian winter.

32 km through and in and out of the river valley which as some decent climbs where the grades can get up to the point where many will opt to walk rather than ride... think one 2 km stretch is a pretty consistent 12% and a few shorter sections and run ups exceed that.

Best quote of the day was after I decided we should drop back into the valley and my friend said "We really don't have to go down again".

Best moment was passing a bunch of high school kids who were dying on that 12% climb and there was no way a guy on the near side of fifty and another who is on the near side of 70 were going to get off and walk... although many of these kids were. :)

Felt good through the entire ride... touring bike was 47 pounds as dressed and really had no problem with anything... a beautiful red head on a Dutch roadster passed us on an easy climb... she is my friend's wife and her bike has an electric assist up front. :)
