Most of the roadies around here are the same way. I don't wear a jersey and have gears or brakes, so I must me some sort of Satan incarnate.

Seriously! They seemed to collectively think it was a dick move for me to pass them but we were literally on a road with no cars and I politely announced "on your left" as I came up on them. I was stopped at a beach area getting some water and whatnot when they all rolled up and gave me a stern talking to. They must have said "you kids" about 25 times, despite the fact that I'm nearly 40 years old.

Weirdos.

whoa. they actually hunted you down? that's almost flattering....

nuhtowel 07-29-12 03:05 PM

next time, ask them if they want to race

Today, I dialed in my caad9 to more of a race fit since I've only been going on short rides with it, it feels real good now. I need to get out of the habit of pointing my toes though.

Well, not really. The beach parking area is right on the road we were all riding on and a pretty common stop because there are water fountains and rest rooms there. It would have been impossible for them to not see the dreadlocked monster on a pink bike.

They just hate you, cuz they ain't you. :p
Maybe you passing them by symbolized (and confirmed) their current life situation, which made it really sting, lol.

Today I saw the latest Batman installment. Too long and not great. That's my review. It can wait for blu-ray, imho.
Also very distracted thinking about the victims in Colorado, and constantly watching the exits/entrances for suspicious activity. Not joking. It wasn't a very pleasant experience.

I recommend watching it in a place where you're not afraid of being shot, but I guess that bridge is already crossed.

FakeFuji 07-29-12 04:59 PM

I wasn't thrilled by the movie either

+1

i wouldve liked it a lot better if a certain characters voice didnt sound so rediculous, and actually had anything in common with the character from the comics

Agreed. "Throat Cancer Batman" is not my favorite.

Today I am helping a friend by working a gate at Wicker Park Fest. I'm getting paid $100 to sit at a table for ten hours, ask people for money, and listen to music. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday.

i was actually referring to another character specific to the 3rd one, but i do find it comical how he adopts a new voice when he puts the mask on lol

LessonLearned 07-29-12 06:20 PM

I always thought he was disguising his voice so they wouldn't know he's Bruce Wayne, but yeah that voice is annoying.
Avengers was insanely good. Hulk smash, Thor's hammer, Iron Man... fun movie. But I didn't see any of the Hulk/IronMan/Thor movies, so it was all new to me.

thats awesome carleton!

DanBell 07-29-12 08:07 PM

I first read that as "Bronze in Team SPIRIT." Team Sprint is more impressive though. Good work!

RGNY 07-29-12 08:45 PM

took the '80 Raleigh Gran Sport on it's maiden voyage after some basic maintenance. forgot how heavy those old bikes could be and will rip off the !@#$% noisy dork disk at my first opportunity. but, friction shift with the Suntour Power Shifters was like being in a time warp. shifting / trimming came back to me like second nature.

dreading work tomorrow, but it pays for the bike habit.

now time for beer and rereading "Gilgamesh":

“What you seek you shall never find.
For when the Gods made man,
They kept immortality to themselves.
Fill your belly.
Day and night make merry.
Let Days be full of joy.
Love the child who holds your hand.
Let your wife delight in your embrace.
For these alone are the concerns of man.”
