Today I worked at the bike shop. Bought a helmet and glasses. Saw Bane and Terror. Now I smell like hot garbage.
|
Wait, Bane and Terror are touring together?
|
Yep! They played there on Thursday.:(
Could make the drive to Cleveland tomorrow if you're feeling ambitious. |
Today I rode around in my new Rapha kit courtesy of Jandro (sw8 birthday gift, we are lovers)
I can't understand how the bibs are so comfy. |

I can't understand how the bibs are so comfy. I really want to pull the trigger on a pair to widen the wardrobe but the price makes me hesitant to do some toe dipping with a pair without trying them on in person. No dealers around here and I don't head back to the bay until Christmas. |
Stressin' on the job search. Employers, Y U NO CALL ME

Sending follow-up e-mails might yield something

Just got home from the show. The sound at the Aragon is terrible; otherwise it was great! Franz Ferdinand opened, and Perry is ever the amazing front man/entertainer. He's obviously bat**** insane, but a good entertainer.
|
How is Franz live? I haven't gotten to see them yet. I've been to a few shows at The Aragon. Sound isn't that bad. Congress has much, much worse sound.

How would you compare the bib to Castelli's? It would be perfect if you've sported the body art or free aero derivatives. (I remember you were sporting a set in your fit vs unfit comparison of yourself)

I can't really compare to Castelli stuff, as I don't own any of their stuff, but Rapha does top the best that Pearl Izumi has to offer. |
i use what i get for cheap or free
recently it was squadra. that **** sucks, def. wouldn't pay for it. |
I'm back from Chicago. Had fun.
On the way to the airport I sat next to a guy with a mission workshop bag. Then while at a grill in the airport I sat next to a guy who was close friends with the owner of Mission Workshop. Funny day. ALSO - I had the pleasure of being in a Chicago rainstorm. It was insane. |
That storm yesterday was awesome.

Decided to convert a Peugeot mixte that I found on CL to a SS.
|
wife rides a Dutch city bike. considering a Linus Gaston 1 (due to flip/flop hub, easily changed gearing ) for coffee runs together and looking forward to lazy fall days. she's really scared of riding street and i'm trying to build confidence.
cheaper option is the BD Windsor Essex, but waiting to hear back if the cog is able to be swapped out. would go w/ the BD in that case, as it's full cro-mo, vs. the Linus' hi-ten w/ cro-mo downtube. |

So my team kits are top of the line Pearl Izumi stuff and the chamois and material of the Rapha bibs is just better. The chamois and bib material are way more comfortable. I could tell the second I tried them on. Then I wore them for the 45mi ride home, and they felt amazing.

Pearl Izumi (mid-grade) - passable, not super great Descente (high-grade) - pretty good Hincapie (high grade) - really great, by far my favorite Obviously, the fact that my Pearl Izumi shorts cost less was a factor in their lower quality overall. |

That's seriously like ordering a well-done filet mignon at a high-end steakhouse though. |

there's a crazy thread on kickstands.
plodding, but LOL-worthy: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ight=kickstand |
Today I rode my first freewheeled bike in about 8 months. Very noisy, a lot less responsive and not nearly as fast-feeling as I expected. :(
|
Today, other than going on a street ride, I just took it easy and worked on the 930.

I forget the model, but it's a seatstay mounted clamp-on. Pain in the ass.

Sup hoes. I'm back, and 1500 richer.
AKA, Scrod! I have money for you! |
Similar, yes.
Since I've started eating better, drinking less, and riding more, I've lost 10lbs. ****ing awesome. |
