general or subject?
congrats either way

my chem GRE scores were good. I was instructing a supplemental course to gen. chem at the time and studying so I was well prepared.
My gen GRE scores were avg.

seeing as how im working and have graduate school aspirations I should probably apply before my scores expire....
either way I will re-take the general.

Street rider 08-03-12 03:53 PM

It was the general test, no biochemistry programs require the subject test since it doesn't have good historical precedence.

I jumped from 53% to 80% in verbal, and 77% to 85ish% in math which equals a ~1365 on the old GRE scale, which puts me above and beyond any cut offs that schools have (which is usually 1100-1200)

This coupled with having a really good informal interview at a great university (I blew them away with my sciencing, and they totally want me to go there)... feels good man.

TMonk 08-03-12 06:27 PM

i look forward to graduate school for intellectual and professional reasons. currently I plan on going in 2-3 years, but we'll see what happens.

Today was a good day. Got a free set of Wellgo SPD pedals. A customer got new Speedplays installed and didn't want the Wellgos. Now to get some shows and cleats and learn how to clip in/out. Also, I found out that I'm literally one of two people at my shop that knows how to properly install a cog and lockring on a fixed gear. The rest of the employees (sales and techs) are roadies that have never even ridden fixed. Crazy. Between the commute, an errand, and a quick spin on a Fuji Altamira during my lunch break, I got in a solid 50 miles today.

I found out today that I can get a Fuji Altamira 2.0 and a Fuji Betsy (wife bike) together for under $2000. Man, I do love employee discounts.

I wish. Not a Surly dealer though.

Just realized that the Altamira doesn't come in my size. Gran Fondo 2.0 it is.

Today my work friends have an extra ticket to a Lollapalooza aftershow so I'm going to see Jane's Addiction. Don't really care about them anymore but the ticket's only $15 and it's not far from me, so why not?

LesterOfPuppets 08-04-12 07:56 PM

I heard they got Stumptown coffee out at the Loller. Tasty brew, that.

Dannihilator 08-04-12 08:08 PM

Today I had my first solid crash of the season at the pumptrack. Some scrapes, and a bee sting to the neck.

Nice! I still dig them...

Fixed up some bikes for a local antique dealer. Got 99% done with this jamis full suspension before I noticed the chainstay was about to break in half. That's after it got a new chain, cables, wheels trued and bearings repacked. That and 5 more bikes netted me a benjamin and a ton of momentum that carried over to flipper projects of my own that have been stagnating in the garage.

Today was a good day.

nuhtowel 08-04-12 09:03 PM

Today I drank beer, went wakeboarding with my brother, then he took me to a beer garden to treat me to a fancy six pack since I rocked my GRE. I'm going to be all sorts of beat tomorrow.

LesterOfPuppets 08-04-12 09:34 PM

best pic I've seen from lollapalooza so far:
