Today I decided a few things :
- selling the cinelli bolt - Changing the BMC frame to a CAAD10 (been hearing too many great things about CAAD10) - buying sw8 wheels - buying ultegra di2 upgrade kit (MAYBE... maybe... maybe) Will revel in riding a sw8 sw8 road bike within a month. I have issues committing to 1 bike :| You will most certainly NOT regret it, you have my word. I was at first apprehensive of di2 over a feeling of "disembodiment" with the bike regarding the lack of the traditional mechanical/ cabled response but you'll get used to it. Shifting is effortless throughout and front shifting from both fringes of chainring size limits are "sweet jesus" moments, trust me, you'll find out. ;) The only pet peeve of mine against di2 is the inability to dump gears with one subtle motion of the shift lever; you have to tapshift, tapshift, tapshift, tapshift.... to desired rear gearing. Call me lazy but the only side effect is the awkwardness when you ride a older bike with period correct friction shifting. |
Hey Gigantor. Di2 upgrade kits are really cheap on eBay at the moment. sub 1400

Today I started throwing parts on the Creamsicle frame that's been sitting in the corner of the shop since I started toiling there. Just need to pick a gear combo, space/dish rear wheel, get super long brake bolts for the front brakes, get rimstrips and saddle.

I'm still getting the c-dale frame with white logos on it.

This should overall get me a lighter road bike than my current setup (It's something like 18 to 19 pounds). |
I may have to go ride a CAAD10 tomorrow with that endorsement.
|
I rode one, and although it was a size bigger than I was comfortable, I really liked it. Probably the nicest of the handful of modern road bikes I've ridden lately.

After hitting the local teaser trail yesterday I've decided my next personal project will be a fixed MTB. While riding I was wishing I still had SS MTB, then I thought hell, this is mellow enough to rule on fixed. |
Today I worked on bikes all day :)
So tomorrow after I do a trail ride with the fam...

just back from a company recreation/party trip over the weekend in Kernville, CA by lake Isabella.
on sat morning 4 of us rode the cannell plunge. our shuttle van broke down at about 6500' feet, but most of us decided to spin up the road to 9200' for the trailhead. the trail dumped us out about 1.5 miles from Kern Brewing, where we met up with other co-workers for food and brew. I was dirty, itchy, sticky and my limbs were all cut up. Epic. at night we drank lots of beer and us younger ones stayed up pretty late engaging in debauchery of various sorts :D. I haven't had a weekend this good in a long time. So awesome. |
Today I laced a new wheelset, silver formula hubs to black m13's, for my track bike. I'm getting better at it!

Today the highlight of my work filled day (wouldn't be the case if I wasn't afflicted with this fatal disease called procrastination) was going to the local crackcake place called sprinkles with my lady; massive disparity in the time required to consume them between the both of us.
Now I'm typing this just to fit in with all the other guys waiting in a 40+ minute queue @ extraordinary desserts downtown SD while our ladies all huddle around and oogle at the dessert cabinet. |
track cycling is awesome.

heh, typo on my cog change. now running 45:13 (not 12). 91.3 gi according to Sheldon's calculator.
at 195-200# i carry a lot of inertia. :) old gearing i could stay on the saddle/flats up the hill on my normal commute. new gearing i had to hit the drops about 1/2 way up, then come out of the saddle for maybe the last 1/5 of it. although i think it had more to do with technique. i've got the recent climbing article in my office for lunchtime reading... |

Today I had no classes in the morning so I rode some nearby trails.
Did 25km with lots of climbing. I need to remember to take some pictures as I'm riding. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...bike/photo.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ike/photo2.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ike/photo4.jpg |
Today I discovered why I shouldn't ride in vans when it's raining. RIP dry socks

Today I purchased a brand new 2012 Leader 722 on ebay for only $200. My size, and the color I wanted, too! I really wasn't planning on buying a new frame right now, but it'll be a solid upgrade from my kilo TT, and for the price, I just couldn't resist purchasing a frame I've been wanting so badly. FREE SHIPPING TOO!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/320917208911...#ht_500wt_1210 I messaged the guy to be sure it wasn't a defect frame or anything, and he mentioned that he actually helped design the frame at Leader. Cool stuff. I'm super excited. Guess I need to pick up a new fork, headset and seatpost! Does anyone know if the green 2011 722 fork will match the 2012 frame? |
