Ha! Adding up all the parts at individual retail prices comes out to $922. As a complete bike, it sold for $785.

That's a +$900 build?! Oh me oh my, not sure how I feel about that.

LesterOfPuppets 06-08-12 07:17 PM

Buying parts a la carte @ retail gets real expensive real quick.

This. Considering prices at RG are pretty low to begin with, it's crazy how quickly things add up.

I once worked at a shop where they wouldadd up the a la carte prices, add a $70 labor charge and 15% on top of it all for custom builds. Such bull****.

Dannihilator 06-08-12 07:28 PM

Today I had a good session at the dirt jumps.

Today I:

Today I think I filtered through traffic for like 5 miles. Coming home 5pm, 10 miles west to east going past the 405 on ramps, and into Beverly Hills. So much traffic, half the time it was either bumper-to-bumber or slowly rolling at 20mph. It's not as fun when i have a pannier to worry about.

It just amazes me that's what you can get a la carte even with RGs low prices. I built my bike myself with a few used parts and only spent a couple hundred more than what that Pake build costs...

Last race of the day coming up on Tulsa Tough stream:

Which should be a good example for the noobs who are hell-bent on building a bike from scratch.

I don't even want to figure out what my BK would add up to at individual retail prices.

Today I finally got my roadie back to being rideable. After all the upgrades it feels just how I hoped it would :)

I think I decided what color to get the 930 repainted in. I'm going to go with a glossy dark blue.

Epic Schwinn,

The raleigh looks much much much better now.

Scrodzilla 06-08-12 08:54 PM

Dude, that Raleigh looks amazing!

EpicSchwinn 06-08-12 09:11 PM

Thanks, everyone! :D

Was that pic from today? You guys had sun today? Brightness of pic is freaking me out, man!

Traded this-

Which is this but with a broken frame, right at the fixing bolt for the replaceable hanger. Everything else is in amazingly good shape.

I think I did pretty good for myself. :D ...Wonder if I can get the frame replaced under warranty.

Yup! Sun and then random hail storms. I'm in Bellingham for the summer. I just now put together that you're a local (as in from Washington but as far away on the coast as possible)

Sixty Fiver 06-08-12 09:44 PM

Bought a bunch of random bike stuff, replaced the front brake pads on the Pug as the old ones were squealing like a cat in heat... will clean those up and keep them as spares.

Dude, I'll do it. Pay me in store credit and we will call it even.

This why I will hate the day that i can neither be a full member of my co-op or work in a bike shop. Retail?? Sheit

I also got to play with my coworker's bike, a 49cm Dave Scott Iron Man -Terry bike style.

Meanwhile all I do is build from scratch. Recycling your parts helps. *shrug*

Today I got pretty hot on the ride to work.

LesterOfPuppets 06-08-12 11:29 PM

Harsh! Mercury ran all the way up to 54 degrees here today.

That webcast of Radiohead @ Bonnaroo youtube was kickass! One of those things that makes me glad I'm living in the future.
