got 2 flats...turned my planned 55 mile ride into 20 since I only had one spare tube on me and had to do the walk of shame to the nearest bike shop.

Today I was working on a customer's bike and got one of my dreads thoroughly stuck in the rear derailleur.

craigcraigcraig 05-17-12 02:52 PM

did you cut it off or pull it back through?

Scrodzilla 05-17-12 02:54 PM

I pulled most of it back through but had to make a small sacrifice.

Because I have likened your dreads to Cthulhu and the Kraken AND your name is Dave.

I will now call you Davy Jones.

LET NO JOYFUL VOICE BE HEARD-AHLET NO MAN LOOK UP IN THE SKY WITH HOPEAND LET THIS DAY BE CURSEDBY WE WE WHO READY TO WAKETHE KRAKEN!!!

For epic music:

I'm assuming that's also what happened to the RD that tried to mess with your dreads.

craigcraigcraig 05-17-12 02:56 PM

does this instance warrant a notice to the customer?

Ha...seriously!

hairnet 05-17-12 03:25 PM

it probably would have been worse if it were a fixed gear and the wheel had kept turning

Scrodzilla 05-17-12 03:28 PM

I wouldn't have been adjusting the rear derailleur if it were a fixed gear though...

Sixty Fiver 05-17-12 03:28 PM

Today I succeeded in getting the damaged Cyclone crank arm off my bike... between the gear puller, the massive power in these legs, penetrating fluid, and a little tapping with a flat bar punch it came off.

And I got in a decent little ride too.

but imagine how horrible it would be have your hair caught in there! my finger almost got sucked in once

Scrodzilla 05-17-12 03:38 PM

I definitely know. I took a piece of my thumb right off a year or so ago.

Young Version 05-17-12 03:51 PM

Today I organized my tiny bike cave:

Sometimes it sucks living in 400sqft. There's an MTB frame hiding back there, an FTP frame upstairs, my crabon bike hanging on the wall, and two MTBs locked up outside. I'm not sure why my girlfriend puts up with it.

I know a few folks that have got their digits too close the the drive train on a fixed gear that were lucky to have not lost them.

jimmytango 05-17-12 05:05 PM

Today I realized that I'm burnt out on kitchens. I need to take a break from this ****.

Took my stress management final today.

Open book. Open notes. Open conversation.
Not the hard kind.

Nice of them to help you manage your stress by giving you an easy exam.

TMonk 05-17-12 06:06 PM

If I was the instructor, I would give you guys the gnarliest, most difficult exam evar. I would also insist that all students stay until the end of the period.

At the end of the testing period, I would announce to the class: "LOL JK ROFL" and tear them up right infront of them :D.
