Today I did some general maintenance at the pumptrack. Put in a quick road ride afterwards. Am now over 4,500 miles for the year.

Young Version 05-16-12 08:13 PM

Today I broke a cleat at 30mph+. I didn't crash, but it was a scary moment.

PSA: Replace your cleats if they're worn.

Uggh! Why must people continuously scare me away from clipless and carbon.

I've got some old, heavy Dura-Ace Look style pedals but have yet to get the shoes. Now I'm scared again.

striknein 05-16-12 08:20 PM

Rode silently.

To be fair, I broke a strap only a week or two ago...I've been having bad luck with foot retention lately.

My cleats were really worn; it's usually not an issue at all.

I received my arione that i won off ebay a couple days ago. Cant say I like it as much as i like my romin, but I do enjoy the fact that the nose is a lot smaller, and doesnt rub on my thighs. And it has a little too much padding for my liking. not a deal breaker yet though. I need to take it on a longer ride to make sure though.

Nagrom_ 05-16-12 08:36 PM

I have chem finals on friday to be studying for... probably isn't going to happen...

Just ordered a new set last night. mine were so bad I would have to push a part of it over on the right one before it could clip in, if I walked -- things got too smushed together and I couldn't clip in.

today I did the ride of silence. bike ride through Houston that's quiet, where we show up in white and honor people who have died while on their bike. pace was a craaawl. was sure I was going to crash from the amount of novice cyclist nearly tire touching.

though I did nearly eat **** leaving it. Had to come off a curb to leave (last stop was at city council). foolishly rode off of it, which caused my wheel to slide forward just enough (serious FU hex hollow axles or whatever they're called -- PW and Sheriffs use these), that crap never happens with my normal bolts it seems. anyway, because I was already towards the end of my dropout from gearing up, my chain came off, I was clipped it and tried to do one rotation to see if it'd catch, it didn't came off completely. luckily I was going really slow and I got my foot to the ground on time before eating it. didn't feel comfortable the entire ride home because I couldn't get my chain tension where I wanted it from the side of the road.

Today I moved up to fourth in a strava sprint without realizing I was participating, next time I will try and break my pedal spindles to acquire first.

You were dead on with that prediction. I'm guessing alejandro is not "magcycles".

I did that the other day, then decided I had to get back down there to take 3rd the next day and did so. I dunno if 2nd or 1st are possible for me.

FakeFuji 05-16-12 10:52 PM

I was only 12 seconds back from 1st with my spinning gear of 45/17, tomorrow I am going to put my 15t in the back and get that gold

LesterOfPuppets 05-16-12 11:23 PM

12 secs out of how many for your best time so far?

12 secs on a 2 mile climb is pretty easy if you have a good day. 12 secs on an eighth of a mile = improbable.

alexaschwanden 05-16-12 11:48 PM

Today i rode my road bike 40 miles because it's fun.

So, Peelander-Z was amazing as always, though my wife didn't "get" them. I had a couple friends who were supposed to go, but bailed because they're lame and/or sick. One of the openers was an instrumental band that only player music from video games. Meh.

Anyhow, here's a picture of the awesomeness:

If you ever have a chance to see them, go. If my opinion isn't enough, ask Misskaz. She'll tell you what's up.

Today I rode all afternoon/evening around Seattle with jdgesus and also had the pleasure of meeting zoltani and cc700!

So awesome, wish I didn't have to work starting Friday.

Its just over .8 miles, took me 2:24 at 20.8 mph, I got lazy towards the end of the run ( nice looking woman was near the lake) and I was enjoying the scenery :p

Today I got bored of SSFG and ventured out to the 41. It was terrible.

90% of roadies = chumps.

Agreed, but the percentage of fixed/SS riders who are chumps is probably at least that high.

Cycling attracts people who just love riding bikes as well as people who love telling everyone how fast they are, and there's no easy way to separate them.

LesterOfPuppets 05-17-12 01:16 AM

MTBers pre 1994 are probably the coolest group I've known as a whole. Mid-late 90s messengers in Portland were mostly pretty cool too.
