Ugh... Hangovers suck.

Got a job apprenticing at the best bike shop in my town. Went down to two shifts a week at my restaurant job. Set schedule for 7 days a week for the foreseeable future. I feel like this is the first day of my new life. Makin' money, not going insane (full time kitchen job was driving me mad), and I still have plenty of time to ride.

Also, will be finishing my race bike this week (lavender/purple Spooky Skeletor with a mishmash of RED, DA, and 105), and will hopefully be getting my vintage Serotta powdercoated and built up in time for 12 Hours of St. Pete. Pics to come ! !

Well, I'm jealous. Restaurant life is definitely getting on my nerves. I'm good at it but man, something's gotta change.

One of my favorite summer Sunday activities is to roll by all the gospel churches, kick it outside for a minute to catch a tune or two. They all got their windows open when it's hot so the tunes are loud.

I'd bet money that's not true...CC's bike weights are never accurate.

They said my Wilier would be under 17lbs, and it was close to 18. They're an awesome shop, but this is one thing they need to fix.

Edit: Doesn't mean the Le Roi Le Veut isn't awesome, though. I might buy one as a graduation gift to myself.

My guess is that they weigh the smallest size.

Probably true, since their site gives the same weight for all sizes, but I have trouble believing that the frame weight difference between my 54cm Wilier and the smallest size is more than a pound.

Were your pedals on? They also weigh without pedals, which I'm sure you know.

Today I was up early, took myself for breakfast and picked up some new boots for my Cooper road bike... like the reviews on the Michelin Lithion 2 and at $20.00 less per tyre than Gatorskins pulled the trigger on a pair of those. If they are as falt resistant as they say then my test ride tells me I am going to be pretty happy with these.

Just stocked my new shop fridge with tasty adult beverages... was a great dumpster find considering it is pretty much new.

My BMC came from CC, and the claimed weight was 17.2 pounds - mine was 17.5 without pedals. I'm quite certain that the Le Roi will come in at most, 19 pounds or less with the changes in sizing. They claim it weighs 16.8, I'd bet on 17-ish. Big deal, that is a really damn lightweight steel bike with disc brakes.

I trust them because they actually weigh their own parts (unfortunately as you experienced, without compensating for the differences in weight across various sizes), rather than going off weight given from manufacturers.

One thing you may want to consider is the sizing of the bars, amount of bar tape, stem length, crank arm length, etc. when comparing parts on their smallest frame, vs. the larger frames, and extra material for the larger sized frame... all of this could easily exceed a pound of weight.

My BMC roadie came with 440mm width bars, 110mm stem, and 175mm cranks which I'm sure isn't the case for the smaller sized frames.

Please let us know how those tires hold up over the next couple weeks. I'm planning on getting a Gatorskin for my front but would love to save $20. Plus I don't really like the Gatorskin sidewalls.

The reviews for the Lithion 2 are very good with very few negatives and think these stems from users who were expecting a full on race tyre but I would like my tyres last longer than 1000 miles... a few negatives also referred to them being slippery on wet / greasy roads but there isn't a tyre out there that isn't.

Weight is the same as the Gatorskin folder and I was laying my bike into the corners pretty hard today and felt like I was on rails... at 115 psi the ride quality was still pretty spectacular.

Will be doing daily training rides on these as I work myself back into shape so will give a more in depth review and comment on any faults I might find.

Weird, I like the gator sidewalls :0 They look nice with my mavic OP CD's.

Today Angie and I played bikes all day, then I went swimming in the ocean (which was probably around 45°).

I like Gatorskin sidewalls too. I REALLY miss ye olde maroon sidewall Contis, though.

I should clarify. I don't dislike the sidewalls. It would just look super ugly on my build. Also I hate that the label is on both sides. Srsly, wtf is up with that?

That's a pretty sharp angle for the ocean to be at.

So everyone knows what you are riding no matter what side of the street they are on... the Michelins are basic black with white logos on both sides.
